Money can definitely buy happiness

Regarding NS member's life problems, tell me that most of them would be solved instantly if you had a couple million lying around

yeah but then we'd have rich people problems, instead of poor people problems. and personally i think poor people problems are easier to solve then rich people problems.

yeah being rich has its downs too i guess (freaking out about the stock market, voting for MacCain, etc...)

yeah, temporary happiness, maybe we could buy more cool skis, but i think most ns members aren't ready to deal with a couple mil, most are 14 year olds who would lose it all to taxes in like 10 years

not just rich people are in the stock market, almost every adult is invested. My parents just lost about 5 grand in their retirement due to AIG

shit thats horrible. yeah true that not only rich people have stocks, but my parents only have like 10 grand worth of stock, some rich people are getting wrecked by the whole stock crisis (im talking in terms of hundreds of thousands)

mo money mo problems. our financial problems may be slve but we would be dealin with some other issues.

agreed. my parents were in aig and quite a few others... they've lost $250,000 recently, so much for retiring this year.

taxes, and all the charity mail shit, and all the people askin for money, idk, but theres gotta be some big money problems.

I'd put it all in Monaco.

Then go live in whistler for the rest of my life.

And be a ski coach/instructor/patroller.

All problems instantly solved.

yeah you could have a sweet job that might not pay well at all but you would still have all that money to live off of

i just wish i had enough money to own some dope shit and not have to worry about my finances. not obscenely rich tho, thats when you get people leaching who dont really give a shit about you

ugh, in some cases, yes.

but in ALL cases, life is so much deeper than money making happiness.

that being said, cool bedtime story Hansel, because there is NO rational way everyone can have all the money they want.

I think people that believe that money can buy happiness, just need something to do.

I just got a bike for 15 d0llars and my real happiness came from working on it, then riding it.

If you nadadamean.

can you guys imagine the stress of losing a couple hundred thousand dollars due to the stock market right now? that would be fucked.

my psych professor was actually just saying today that someone did a study on people who have won the lottery vs. people who hadn't regarding how they felt about things like a sunset, watching children play, walking a dog, and stuff like that and it showed that people who won the lottery didn't enjoy any of the things as much as people who hadn't... I think money could buy happiness if you earned it though.

I would need much more than 2 million to buy hapiness. shit i got 3mil hidden in my bitch's asshole and that's just my tic tac toe bettin cash.

it makes sense. imagine if you won like 10 mil from the lottery right now. you'd probably drop out of school, accomplish nothing with your life and have nothing to be satisfied with or proud of. Not that I would mind winning the lottery because it'd be sick to be able to start up a company with a massive budget, but that isn't what most people do with their winnings.

ya. I've always wondered what i'd do if i won the power ball which is like crazy and was like 200,000,000 a few weeks ago. I'd probly move to a ski town and still make an honest living. Donate some to a legit charity too

not to mention you'd have some asshole knocking on your door to do a pointless study about how happy you are because you're wealthy.

i'll tell you what i'd do if i won the lottery:

pay off any debt i owed, especially the high-interest ones

and the remaining amount would get divvied up like this:

60% goes to low-risk, low return investments

30% goes to high-risk, high-return investments

6% to fun

2% to necessities

and 2% to charity

foolproof

ya u might be right but i think materialistic views only lead to more problems but actually our emotional relationships will lead to more happiness

from personal experiences (i'm not talking about myself here),some kids i've met at school who are some of the wealthiest people i've ever met are the most fucked up kids i've ever met.

I would put that shit in a bank some were deep in Columbia.
drop a couple hundred thousand on some kilos of 100% pure uncut cocaine
Then i would sell it to 14 year olds while at the same time open a rehab institute for cocaine addicts in particular, make hella bank with a bunch of twacked out 14 year olds then retire some where on top of some burly ass mountain that is hella intimadating and grow tons and tons of weed, underground in my "burly weed growing dungeon of doom". and my house is gonna have a PHAT moat full of gnarly food deprived hippopotamuses.

Yeaaaaaaa

If I had 5 million dollars I could buy a condo in whistler and ski or bike every day for the rest of my life.

Money = Happiness

...if your passion isn't work.

I just got offered $60thousand for a 6month contract with a magazine.I turned it down for Happiness...
Maybe I was stupid, but it won't affect my career and will definitely not affect my happiness.

The contract would have involved me working 4/6days a week solidly with no holiday from now until May. Staying here in England for the duration (I'm British).
I turned it down as to live in Breck for this period of time. I will have about 8thousand to live off all season so will be tight on cash. But I will never be happier than wen I have a pair of skis on my feet.

In my case and life, money will never result in happiness. Internal happiness will alway outshone material wealth...

i would have made the same decisions, I think the only time money could bring complete happiness is if you received money for nothing, if it comes down to taking a job you'll hate that pays big bucks vs. doing something you love but just making enough to support yourself, the decision should always be do what you love, you will lead a much happier life, i believe at least, in the long run and take more away from life
