how is it? is it good BC? good park? good snowfall? worth going to for a week? i need to know asap! thanks.

when I was like 13-15 I went to a few mogul comps there and it was a fun little redneck area with some decent terrain. To get to the top of the course they would tow you in with a sled and like ten kids hanging on to one rope it was madness. The course would finish in the parking lot and they would shovel snow to have a finish area. I think the run was named gunbarrel. If anyone knows please post. I have very fond memories of that place but no real knowledge of the mountain or terrain but i want to go back. It was about 12 years ago i was there. so sorry i dont know shit

Monarch is a sick ski area, for this season they opened a section called Mirkwood basin, that added like 130 acres of Double Black terrain w/ chutes, glades, cliff's and so on...there park is pretty good, they have a good selection of rails, and well built jumps, this season they have a roller coaster box, and some really good looking stuff, the snow is always great, i love all the runs there, it is deffinately worth spending a week there

i was driving the pass one day and saw a snowboarder jump the road while i was driving- it was pretty damn cool

probably some of the best snow in the country, seeing as there is no snowmaking. plus they get hit quite a bit, so thats even better. not really crowded, the locals are the shit(really friendly) and they offer some really amazing bc. as for the terrain on the hill.....not so much.....a run only lasts like one minute and the lifts r slow as hell, but like i said, thats not y you'd go there.

Ya you're right the run is Gunbarrel, I grew up skiing there it's great. There also used to be a BC access gate if ya know where to look.

Monarch is My favorite CO mountain. I know it perfectly. its alot cheaper than the summit county places. they recently added a all natural terrain park on Slwo Motion off the breezeway lift. park wise the rails are good but lacks the huge jumps of the summit county places. It is a smaller mountain so there arent quite as many runs. i would agree with the dude who said the lifts are slow as hell. But seriously the snow is uneral sometimes. Mirkwood is hot shit.

Monarch is my home away from home. I rip up that shit a few times each year making sure that I spend spring break there. If you have a monarch pass then you get three free passes to my home mounatin of pajarito. If you ever make a trip down to it, feel free to pm me and I will tell you conditions and if it is worth the journey. Compared to monarch, it probably wont be worth it lol
