lookin to get a new pair or skis this year ive narrowed it down to reno jibs or salonom suspects both in 171 or maybe if i get the suspects 176, ive been happy with salomon in the past but ive herd only good things about moment and on top of it this years renos look dank

im about 5'9 160ish, ski east coast, expert, i little power, park, mostly just ski everything

just seeing what you guys think thanks

I was thinking about the suspects too, until i realized that like everybody will have them next year. Go with what they said, support a smaller company.

yah ive been wicked interested in the reno jib also been thinking suspects, but its hard trying to figure out if i should keep my 07-08 Ar6 or get the new Reno jib

Salomon is legit the suspect is a pretty wide park ski and it is alittle more flexible than the dumont and you can go shred pow even better than just a park ski

I have known many people who have ridden on Moments thrhough the past few years, no one i know has ever made a pair last an entire season, usually they break after about a month or less

those were the old moments, our skis are much much stronger now, we were using the wrong fiberglass in our skis but we fixed that problem, the skis coming out this year have gone through a lot of revisions and they are the strongest skis we have ever made, they will hold up for sure...we are now using a new core which has a mix of pine and aspen to prevent pull outs and is extremely lively, we use the best bases on the market and our edges are rockwell hardened to 48 to prevent your edges from cracking

supporting a smaller company is always good but Ive had better luck with customer service from bigger companies with warrrantees and stuff

go with moments, you'd have a much better relationship with a smaller company if something happened

Not true....Salomon is the best company I have ever dealt with for warranties and dammage. Not only do they give you new stuff in exchange, but it's usually an upgrade from the original equipment you had.

I really really really really really really want to buy some Tahoe's this season. I just hope I can afford them and eat at the same time. Damn you vile food!

Thats cool and all, but if a decision is based on reputation rather than the ski, I don't understand why not support Salomon, they do so much for comps and support so many skiers, why not support a company who gives a lot back? Nothing against Moment at all, cause I love those guys. I am just saying...

yeah guys, it's really a question of how the ski performs in the end...thats what i think personally

obviously Salomon gives a lot back to the ski community, they havebeen one of the key factors that brought the industry to where it is today...at Moment, we try and support as much as possible, but you have to realize that we are on a completely different budget than Salomon is...

I'm not going to be bias here, Salomon makes excellent skis, and so do we...it's a tough choice in the end, but i would say choose your ski by the way it performs

you obviously haven't heard of Moment's customer service!

and in accordance with dave I'm going to suggest that you (thread creator) demmmooo the skis! I know Moment will have a lot of demos around to try out especially in the Tahoe area.. you might not be willing to wait that long though..

reno jibs, are the best skis ive ever ridden, and although ive never ridden suspects, i would seriously recommend jibs, they are very good skis for park and all mountain

i just posted this in another thread...

well dude, if you want to go with durability, idk what to say there. i mean, salomon has been around a long time and knows their shit. moment however, is a VERY young company, but also knows their shit. they had some topsheet problems last season, but from what i know, they fixed the problem so that they are = or better than other companies

but if you want to be skiing more park than all mtn, then get the jibs. a friend a mine has them and they are sweet for jibs and park

if youre gonna be skiing all mtn and some pow, the suspects have a 122mm tip and all around better dimensions for the whole mountain. but its still a SICK ski. sammy C, charles G, mike clarke, etc., all use this ski in the park and kill it

not hatin on boone but i think moment is going to own them in sales and yes i realize moments been around longer but moment has the whole square tips factor and hella freash graphics

plus their preformance is great

What does boone have?

If your looking to ski all over the mountain and not just the park, I would consider the suspect's.

jib= symmetrical park ski

suspect= not symmetrical, all-mountain park ski. i'm guessing it's similar/same idea as the foil, but with a wood core

thats what has happened to 4 of the 5 people that have had moments. three had binding pull-outs, the other one snapped his reno's. but i know for a fact tha Moment has done some major changes to there skis. soposed to be better

suspect

I just got them 2 weeks ago and they are amazing

I will try them next week and I will give you a feedback

The only thing I could tell you right now that they are not flexible

Every single ski that goes on the market breaks for people, out of the thousands of skis made some are always going to be faulty or the people who broke them, rode them way to tough. I would personally go with moment jibs(I actually might buy some) because moment is a hands on company, salomon skis are factory made all duplicates made by under paid, never seen snow workers. (I think)

yah most of the time ski companys NEVER make their own skis. they always will hire their competitor to make them for them cause they too lazy.

come on man....

Lol, well Moment has been around for a few years now dude... so the name is more established.

Moment can make as many skis as there are people to buy them and Boone wont make more than 500 per season. Period.

Either way.. just chose what ski you like best. Moment makes dope product for sure.
