Since all the skis are hand made it takes a long time to produce all of them.

contact info@momentskis.com for a definitive answer.

theres a HUGE difference between the hands of a chinese man who has probably never seen snow before and the hands of casey and luke. sorry...theres a huge difference between the production of k2,volkl,salomon,atomic and moment, pmgear, praxis, iggies-and in turn a much higher quality product...

ya there not. There are so many automated machines that do a majority of the work in big name factories.

Look at pictures of rossignol's factory and then look at moment's.

Ignorant statement that all boils down to personal preference in the end. Buy what you want to buy, but keep the Asian phobia underneath your white hood.

yeah just get ahold of the guys. they actually might have some tahoes still. those were the first major production mode for 09 and they seemed to be pumping em out.

Im sorry, but in no way was it ignorant, nor is it personal preference.

Which you like better is personal preference, yes.

Materials used, the manner in which they are put together, and the finished product are fact.

Ive skied a great number of skis, including volkl, k2, atomic, salomon, head, rossignol, moment, pmgear, movement, blizzard, line, and others. Ive handled other skis such as praxis and iggies.

Theres a big difference and theres a big difference between pre-chinese volkl and current volkls.

You can call me ignorant all you want, but you cant argue that the chinese men have more skiing experience and more knowledge of how a ski works than casey or luke, or pat of pmgear, or keith at praxis.

BTW I has no asian phobia. I almost bought Seths. I bought Katanas, but in the end you can get a higher quality product for cheaper.

If you can back up your statement please do, because Id like to hear it.

So, you can keep making assumptions about me. I realize you work for K2 and want to stand by their side. You also do some kickass work that I respect, however I cant respect your contributions to this thread.

Wouldnt go that far. Company that as been making ski for over 30 years than company that is making skis since a year in his small house. The technology isnt the same at all. Everything is different, not saying they are bad tho but saying something like that completely make no sense.

You seem to be trying to make a point, I never attempted to make. We do all conceptualization, design, prototyping and testing here in Washington with the assistance of our athletes and engineers. Dale has been molding the prototypes of every ski we have ever made for 35 years. Paul just retired this year after the same stretch. I think they know what they are doing.

Manufacturing is developing an SOP for each task at hand in the steps of constructing a ski. What you need is somebody who takes pride in each task. Ferraris aren't assembled by F1 racers, but they are certainly designed by them. You don't have to born on snow to build skis, but you do to design them. In the end, if you like a company's product, buy it, if you don't, buy something else. I am personally excited by all the new companies popping up and lighting a fire under the asses of bigger ski brands that I think have gotten lazy on innovation, it promotes healthy competition.

Prototypes and finished product are WAYYY diff, my friend. The stuff that Dale does and the stuff that the factories in China do are definitely a little different. If you guys so much as made a pair of skis in the states, I'd honestly pay that extra 100 bucks or so just to have the insured quality of the product.

Sure, in China you guys have a bunch of machines doing most of the work on your skis, but machines dont pay attention to detail like the smaller brands, or guys like Dale, who know what they are doing.

With that said, I respect the skis you guys make 100%, and I'll continue to ride them when I get the chance.. but having that MADE IN CHINA sticker isnt a fun thing to see..

I'll be buying from Moment next year, not only because they are the local brand, but because they make an awesome product that I highly respect, and they put their heart and soul into everything they make... not just send their manufacturing to china like every other fucking company in this world in order to lower production costs using cheaper labour.

I know that thats the world we live in today.. and its unfortunate that gapers run the industry by buying intermediate ski equipment.. but I guess thats all I have left to say..

I hope that one day K2, and Head as well, will return to the good ol' USofA to build their skis... Though, head being built in austria sure doesnt suck. Legit skis for sure...

but anyways.. /post.

i agree i had a pair of k2 Public Enemies a couple of years ago and they were not nearly as good as the current volkl i am skiing which is made in europe and my telemark ski which is a black diamond. The Black diamond and volkl hold together and ski a lot better then a ski made in China.
