Moment Vice vs. Volkl Wall

I keep making threads for friends to lazy to get accounts but whatever.

Buddies 5'11 160 deciding between the two skis

He prefers a buttery/press type of ski for park and skis pow very occasionally, usually only a foot or two in the tree's or if it's a snowy day in the park.

I'd say the moments since they have rocker which will make butters and presses way easier, plus they use a ton of fancy materials and feel REALLY FUCKING NICE in the hand, but they seem really narrow.

Thoughts? Also thanks.

answered your own question. Neither will do well in pow. The wall are a stiff as ski. The vice are "stiff" from what i remember but can butter due to the rocker.

if he wants a buttery ski for presses, vice is the way to go

Alright thanks, I know some people say the walls aren't that stiff when you actually ski them compared to flexing them, plus they're on the wider end of things, but it seems like the vice is the better option for sure.

Have you ever skied them id love to hear your story

To op i have vices and they have been very durable for me and i love them they are fairly stiff but buttering is not a problem at all plus they are extremely light weight and nimble on rails

Why are you guys hating on moment? I have had the PB&J's for over a year and I have 0 problems with them. They don't have any edge breaks or anything like that and I ride park 80% of the time

What is causing it? is it poor material choice? or just lots of park use? or Is it skiers fault (crappy Skiing)?

well both brands have terrible durability....at ast coreupt didnt carge up the ass for the skis. moment charges you basically similar prices to RMU, armada, ON3P, etc all f which are actually made quality....coreupts are cheap. moment has this illusion of quality that pisses me off and all the hipsters buy them cause all their athletes wear skin tight pants...your getting ripped off with moment. the outerwear is nice though

Moment uses many of the same materials that rmu and on3p use and i have broken a pair of on3ps before yet i have had 0 with moment most the time when a skier breaks a ski it is because of how you are skiing not the ski itself everyone i know with moments including myself love them and have had 0 durability issues

you have no idea. Some RMUs are made at the Moment factory using their materials which are quality. Durability comes down to how you ride. If you bang your skis on metal objects expect them to break at any time. If they don't break on one feature go wow i didnt expect that. if you are a really good park skier then you will know how to handle your skis for instance when coming up too short or too long you adjust to make the impact as minor as possible. In knowing how to handle the park you can handle your skis better.

Moment, RMU, On3p all use the heat treated rockwell edges which hold up better than companies such as Salomon or Atomic. All use real sidewalls in their sandwich construction unlike the fake cap shit that liberty has. Moment, RMU, On3p should be supported since they are just a few of the companies that make their skis in North America instead of having them mass produced by people in China that have no idea what the objects are.

Don't do off all on the trend shit cause that is seriously an immature thing to say. Who the fuck cares who rides them. I has nothing to do with how they are made.

Out of curiosity what year were your skis that you broke? Because I know that 2 or 3 years ago they weren't the best, but lately they have been great

my buddy had the jibs from last season and the core snapped in them, turning them into complete noodles, and he lost basically all of his edge. my other buddy had the jibs from 3 years ago and broke them in like a week. my other buddy snapped a pair of bibbys...the list goes on. what happened to the jibs my buddy had this year was fucking wierd and ive never seen that ahppen....also literally all of the edge on one of em came off it was straight FUCKED. ive seen less suspects explode...

I agree with this absolutely. this guy knows what he is talking about... except what do you mean by the fake cap shit that liberty uses? its UMHW, which Moment uses too. its also proven (friend has 2 pairs) to be very durable and it works

SOME RMU's. I am pretty sure considering I have 3 friends who are sponsored by RMU. of course I am human and could be wrong...

Correct. Most of their skis are made at the NS factory in Denver, but some are made in Reno. My friend is a Rep and says that someone actually put a moment graphic on a rmu( Rocky Moment Underground). just a laugh

that is funny. I would definitely buy that ski haha, but what kind of material is this fake sidewall?

im not entirely sure but im looking at my antigens as we speak and its not even remotely close to uhmw
