It's been tried, but failed every time, but now is the right time to get the NS Movie off the ground.

The Contest will be a member created movie, available on Newschoolers.com for Download and streaming.

***HOW IT WILL WORK***

1. You Join the NS Ski movie cult, here: https://newschoolers.com/web/content/viewcult/action/view/id/4266/

2. Upload your edit from the 2007-2008 season using Vimeo, http://www.vimeo.com/

3.

Email your Vimeo link to Dave.moment@gmail.com, your video will then be

posted in this vimeo channel:http://www.vimeo.com/channel10949

4. Post your Edit in the on the Video Contest Page here: https://newschoolers.com/web/mediacontests/main/cid/11/

5.

NS members must judge each edit according to the overall content of the

edit: skiing, editing skills, etc. (DO NOT JUDGE MUSIC CHOICE)

6.

The top 5 edits will be selected and the winners will be notified, The

winning edits will then remake their edits according to the guidelines

of the NS Movie.

7. We will get every winner to submit their raw

footage via an FTP and the videos will be standardized to ensure

optimum compression quality and flow from one edit to another.

8.

The Movie will be available on Newschoolers.com for Download and

Streaming, the edit will then go through one more vote for the overall

best segment.



***PRIZES***

Prize packs will include product from: Moment Skis, Jibij Pro Shop, Switch Gloves, Design Idea, Tinga's Hats, etc...

The

Grand Prize winner will receive a pair of Cedric Tremblay-Fournier

Signature Moment Plank's, on sale exclusively at Jibij Pro Shop.

***DEADLINES***

****RULES****



1. Anyone can submit an edit as long as they are a member on Newschoolers.com.

2. All skiers must be credited in the edits.

3. Edits must be between 3 and 6 minutes.

4. Please use Vimeo, as it will be the standard for submissions and will make posting much easier for us.

5. Deadline for all submissions: July 4th 2008

6.

You can submit more than one edit, however, you can only have one

submission selected for the movie. (ie: if you are in the top 5

multiple times, your top submission will be selected)

7. Edits can have a maximum of 4 athletes, as long as they are all credited.

Can It be done? Of course it can, the question is, will NS come together to get it done?
 
i look forward to seeing it, Especially the one next year and after cause They will be gettin better and better i'm sure. I have a feeling that you just started something new and cool at NS
 
yeah sorry, we had to restrict it or else it would be way too much...we want this to be as similar to a real movie while still showcasing a lot of the unknown athletes out there
 
4 people in a 3-5 minutes edit = from 0:45 to 1:15 each rider wich is still a super small part.

In my opinion it should be like 3 dudes per edits max to make sure the segments are not just as long as their name flashing on the screen.

what kind of guidelines....Im interested but these guidelines scare me

Also for music choice people should not be able to use songs that are extremely overused.

if you want to make it a fair playing field have a selection of songs for editors to pick from. Thats a real challenge.

we're figuring out all the specifics for the remaking of the edits, but it will be dope and not super hard to follow...as for music, we will make a list of songs for editors to choose from when they remake their edits, however, they can submit their own music and we'll check to see if it's ok to use, we just want to make sure not everybody uses a lil wayne song for their final edit
 
crash segment anyone? I feel this may turn into a super super unknown contest with a bunch of serious discover me style edits. Dont want to discourage anyone from submitting videos, or maybe im just not really sure of the overall impression people are thinking for the final video.
 
We have decided to give you guys an extra month to submit footage, if you already submitted an edit, don't worry, you are allowed to submit more than one edit. This should give time to anyone shooting video in NZ, or at the camps!

Deadline is now August 1st 2008

huh.... flow of the edit with the beat of the music is what makes a lot of edits better than others. An edit submitted with out music would suck and then .. oh nevermind I am not an editor, but was thinking of making a submission from all the footage I got last season.

 
I agree... there's no way I would ever edit without music, it would turn out like shit..... I think we should just get our song cleared before we start re-editing.
