Moment Reno Jib vs. On3p Blue Steele

I am looking for new skis and can't decide between the moment reno jibs or the on3p blue steeles. I ride park 90% of the time but live in montana so sometimes ski the powder. any suggestions??

Reno Jibs are a super fun ski. They are really light, super poppy, low swing weight. Super stable while hitting jumps. They are super durable skis. I've got 10 days on my Reno Jibs and I've skied over rocks (by accident), hit trees, smashed against rails, and no edge cracks or core shots. Just some minor scratches in the bases. The tip and tail of the ski doesn't have edge so it helps prevent delaming. They are a stiff ski, I hope they will soften up a bit.

ON3P Blue Steele's are rockered, Reno Jibs are not.

Here is a review from mrstskier about the Blue Steele's.

I have products from both companies.

I you have done your homework you already know that on they are very similar in terms of materials construction and shape. the only real difference is the rocker, however Moment does make a rockered park sk, aptly named the rocker.

You can't go wrong with either of these companies.

So man up and pick one already......the snow awaits.

I've skied both and like the blue steele better then the jibs. If your gonna ski some pow when it snows though you may want to consider the jeronimos.

What part of MT do you ski at? If your looking at an ON3P park ski I would suggest a Jeronimo over Blue Steele unless you are skiing 100% park.

Sure, the Jeronimo are a little wider than the BS. But I've ski'd my BS all over the entire mountain and they perform fantastic everywhere. Of course, I haven't used them in powder but they're not a powder ski.

OP, don't be worried about using the Blue Steele's outside of the park, because they kill.

I ski alot at Great Divide which really only has a good park. But i do go to Big sky and Bridger several times throughout the year.

I am currently skiing on armada t-halls so i haven't really had experience with a rockered ski. I have heard they are awesome for rails and jibbing but are they as stable off jumps or is that even noticeable??

+k thanks guys

They are just as stable on jumps, the rocker isn't even noticeable really. If you are looking for a 1 ski quiver however, the J-mo is a really good park ski that does exceptionally well on real terrain. You just have to decide if the added weight/width is for you when it comes to park. Blue Steele's do better than the average park ski outside of the park, but I have yet to ride any park ski I would actually say does really well on all terrain. If you think so, you honestly can't have ridden many skis in your time.

I think if you plan on ever skiing Bridger or skiing out of the park at Big Sky you should consider a Jmo. Jmos can hold it down in park as well.

moments are incredibly fun. i ski the jibs at great divide as well and they are pretty killer. if you are looking for a bit more all mountain versatility and are gonna wait till next year to by skis put some thought into the pb and js. they look super killer. but at the same time if you went with on3p im sure you wouldn't be disappointed.

however if you want to support an awesome local shop i would go down to four0six and talk to papu. he will be sure to get you goin on what you need and you wont find a dude more stoked to help you out. pm me if you need any more info on the jibs, or rockers for that matter, i have a friend on those and he loves em

do you need them this year ? or can you wait another because on3p is making a hybrid between the jeronimos and the blue steeles which would be pretty perfect for you

Yeah fourOsix is dope and thats why i think i am going with moments next year and getting them from papu. I am just making my skis hold out for now

thats what im waiting for, i want that, the pb & j's or if both are too expensive im going to get the rockers from this year.

I have owned both skis. The reno jibs are stiffer, and more of a competition level park ski (or at least the older ones were). The moments are stiff fast, and a great jump ski. They are super light and mega poppy. I skied mine for a season and got one edge crack and a small bit of delam. I would buy this ski again for sure. The ON3P's are also an amazing ski. The ski is a bit softer, but i found it to be more stable. It is still by no means a noodle, and is a very solid ski for park, and a bit of all mountain. I have taken this ski off everthing from big cliffs, to bc jumps, to park jumps, and the thing performs. It The rocker makes it butterable, but the stiff flex profile keeps it rigid and solid on those hard landings. These also have the thickest edges i have ever seen. As for durability, the moments win, as i broke the blue steeles. As for overall skiing experience, the ON3P's win. Because i feel like i can do anything i want to on these skis. You really cannot go wrong with either ski though.

We hooked him back up, and I do want to give him a park ski someday that will stand up to his 540's off 30' cliffs into 2' pow. Logan, give me a PM about a custom set of next years.

I really want to try and see if blue steeles can last me a full season. Im on my 2 pair of ar7s and will probably have to replace them by the end of February.

Do not hesitate to get a pair of blue steeles. The skis are by far the best i have ever ridden, and the customer service is easily the best in the industry.

The J-mo has a slightly shorter rocker and completely different rocker shape. Cant give out more spoilers, but they're designed to be mounted dead center only, and were designed with park performance above all else.

Got a pair or two in the Aspen Open this weekend with proto topsheets, keep your eyes peeled.

Its a park rocker, its longer by 5cm but its lower and more elliptical than the J-mo's all terrain rocker. We're keeping it on the J-mo for next year for a reason, park ski vs all mountain ski.

Honestly if you ask anyone on this site what ski to get: ON3P or ___ , everyone will just say ON3P. But yea BlueSteels for sure haha

rowen (ginko) wont give out many details but it what we know for sure is they'll be different and wider

Mostly cause we're still playing around with stuff and deciding what we like best. Elliptical rocker and multiple turn radii into the rocker are for sure ending up in the ski though.

im going to be completely honest i dont know what eliptical rocker is or how a ski could have multi turn radi. But im sure pumped to see it! And possibly ride it.

The rocker is based off of an elliptical curve rather than an arc with a set radius. Lots of skis have multiple turn radii including the current Billy Goat and Cease and Desist. They both have a smaller radius in front of center and a larger radius behind center. The multiple turn radii were using in the new park ski will be different than that though and unlike anything we've done yet. It is a lot of fun. Get pumped!
