Why did the UN give a moment of silence for somebody that has had more people killed than hitler?

What do you think of this?

It's insane how indoctrinated people are though. His funeral had more people crying for him than John Lennon. The UN is probably just trying to keep peace because of how unstable Kim Jong's son is.

Not saying he wasn't one of the worst tyrants of our time, but there's no way he killed more than Hitler.

Roughly 65 million people died during WWII, and the population of North Korea is about 23 million, so he would have had to kill his entire country just under two and a half times.

I'm pretty sure they only gave the moments silence so that they would not piss off his son anymore. (loses his dad and ten realizes everyone else actually hated the guy cause he was a nut) oh did I mention? He might also have nuclear weapons. He wouldn't be the one to mess around with at the moment..

It doesn't matter what you "mean" by ching chong, what matters is the implications that racist rhetoric has on the world. What happens is you homogenize an entire group of people into one ethnic stereotype that is perceived to be lesser then you are.

Kim Jon Il was a dick for sure, he doesn't deserve pity, but to use racist discourse like "ching chong" still isnt justified

Its called respect. It is also a callout to the North Korean government that the West isnt all that evil and self centered.

does the DPRK even have a rep at the UN to notice this happened? If they didn't hold a moment of silence, its not like the alternative would have been to sit around and watch Team America... I highly doubt North Korea is going to nuke the world because they didnt hold a moment of silence. His wording really sickens me about holding a moment of silence as "a tribute." Google defines tribute as an act, statement, or gift that is intended to show gratitude, respect, or admiration. pray tell why anyone anywhere should be showing gratitude, respect or admiration for Kim Jong Il
