Looking for some direction/advice on the differences between these skis. Flex pattern, rocker etc. I posted on another forum while researching a good ski for deep powder in the PNW. Primarily off-piste/trees. I’ve narrowed it down to the Moment Deathwish and the K2 Reckoner 112. Advanced skier 5’8ish 165lbs. Home Mtn: Bachelor

I’m considering 177cm/Reckoner or the 179cm/Deathwish.

Reckoner is a bit more playful and feels more restricted to soft snow conditions. It’s generally looser, too.

The Deathwish is stiffer, more stable, and more versatile in terms of snow conditions.

I've put about 30 days on my Deathwishes this year and would definitely recommend them.

I've been skiing in Japan and have them mounted with Shifts and have used them inbounds, sidecountry and for doing a couple of longer tours into the backcountry.

I would say versatility is their best attribute, they ski powder pretty well and are very stable and hold an edge pretty well on hardpack when you get some speed.

They've also been pretty durable, no significant damage to the bases or topsheets so far.

I put my cast on the Reckoners ina 191. They're a hoot when its soft, gotta try a little harder when its shite snow. Mounted em on at team and they butter for days and blast straight lines.

Pretty much everything in this thread is on point. I daily the DW104 but have a good amount of time on the OG 112 as well. I also have a Reckoner 112 which I CASTed and use as a 50/50 ski.

The Reckoner will be much looser and playful, and really excels in soft snow. Pretty buttery and fun when the conditions are right. It's lighter weight and soft flex means it gets knocked around a bit in variable snow.

DW is going to be way better as an all mountain ski when the conditions aren't blower pow all the time. Triple camber is pretty awesome on hardpack, but it may take a few days to get used to the unique feel. Much chargier than the Reckoner and less surfy but still really playful in the right hands.

Ski for mostly pow, go Reckoner. If you want to still have fun ripping the chop without slowing down too much, go Deathwish.
