Mogul skiing sucks these days. the reason? the FIS; they are gay. what do i propose we do about it? i propose that we all go and learn how to backflips in the bumps then go enter mogul skiing comps and purposely get disqualified for doing our backflips. soon people will begin to question the authority of the FIS and the revolution will spread.........

or you could all setup rebel mogul competitions where inverts are allowed...they'll be more popular, so it'll have to raise some eyebrows.

why don't they just take the jumps out of moguls comps? since those jumps really aren't too representative of what people do these days, give em the axe. then you'd have bumps as another race event, and big air on its own, and no more juding people on how many twisters they can do.

on a side note, candide or someone should have hit that step down at superpark and done like a 15-twister and put it in a video just as an f.u. to fis

 
I think joos has a great idea, we should try to get some company to sponsor a mogul skiing comp that allows inverts and see what kind of response we get (I bet the fis would try to send some shady guys in black suits to kill me.

By the way, the only gay things about moguls skiing are the daffys and morons who think mogul skiing is gay because they cant do it.

I think you keep the same format except allow anykind of trick in the air. Adding tables would just make it newschool skiing event with moguls. I just think the FIS needs to revise the rules, they are a major force in skiing, they shouldn't just disapear!

I remeber in the trailer for Certifiable you could see a dual lane mogul course with a big air hit at the bottom. That's where it's at. But yah, hold alternative mogul events, and they will grow and if its successful, it will take over FIS sanctioned events, or FIS will take up on the idea.

yes a revolution needs to happen but it needs to happen on the pro level, what ever they are doing is what is going to influence it. and backflips wouldnt do shit! backflips would score low even if they were legal, no one would do a backflip, it would more than likely be the equevelant to a double twister, a dspin might do it htough

Some of you guys need to make some distinctions here. FIS = evil... NOT moguls = evil and NOT moguls = bad, or whatever. Moguls rule. With the exception of nice powder, moguls are the most fun thing to SKI. Everyone who says that 'alternative' mogul events are the future are right because in the case of duals, that's where it's going, and don't be surprised to see people flipping on World Cup very soon.

 
what do u mean it has to happen at the pro level? it has to happen at the grassroots level! if it happens at the lower levels then as more people become pro they'll have an effect on what happens later on. you all want something to happen overnite which you should all know wont happen!

for any real revolution to happen the pros have to be doing it to bescause they actually carry weight in the industry, what they do all other skiers will do. just my opoin on the issue

Allright guys, here's the deal, you cant just take the jumps out of moguls. if you did, it would be just as mind numbing and fun to watch as racing. On the other hand you cant add a 40 foot table to the moguls because part of the reason moguls are challenging is because you are landing your jumps in a mogul field, that's also the reason a 360 mute is considered and advanced manuver.

Back to what gordo said about a backflip being like a double twister, that would make it a double (obviously). now what happens if you add a cross and a grab? you would have a quad, which was considered a 'big' trick in the olympics this year.

i was thinking about it...why couldnt they do it with 40 foot tabels? most of the time the pros are landing a little before the moguls anyways, espicially the womone, just have the moguls right after the landing, it would be the same difficulty bescause you would be going faster so you would have about the same time before you get into the moguls as you do now.

Even the girls don't land before the moguls now. Everyone lands 2 to 3 and sometimes 4 moguls down from chop and tries to find a backside. It's stupid dangerous and hella mad gay. I don't blame the public for thinking the shits haggered.

you want a revolution take a look at mosely in this years olympics.

what trick did mosely do in this years olympics, dinner roll/rodeo 7 right? wrong!!! both jumps mosley threw were corked 7s. but mosely had the rotation for the dinner roll approved by the commitee... so what does this mean...

this means that mosely is much cooler than most people think.. he purposfully approved one trick so that he can throw others to fuck with the judges...

I think that he is doing this to prove that the judging for air in moguls is whacked... if he continues to throw variations on 720s in the bumps he will eventually be able to show the world that mogul judging is bad and needs to be changed.... this will bring back moguls to the world.

moguls are not dead.. they are the only way to improve your actual skiing skills without racing if you happen to live in places such as the midwest or east coast.

Again, props to mosely, he's the man. But i insist that the only way to move the sport along is to either just start throwing inverts in the moguls and getting DQed or start some renegade moguls comps that allow inverts, so these moguls skiers can show what they really can do.

these days inverted tricks are alowed and its made the competitions so sick, of course, I'd watch a mogul comp even with out jumps

I feel like FIS will always been a frustration... But at least as far as moguls go, being inverted started being allowed soon after this post was originally made

Moguls used to be like this where you had to pick the pad you landed on .. Now they chop the landings which is kinda lame

well that's what's sort of funny about all this.. newschool skiing as we know it was sort of born out of a reaction to disliking the stuffy rule-obsessed FIS stuff. now that park skiing has matured and become a totally legit thing, we've sort of come full circle and have entered the FIS realm as a newish thing. but then, of course, we're running into the same problems they did 15 years ago....

that's my perspective on it. ive never really been involved because i have mad respect for people who do comps of all types but it's never been an interest of mine

yes, even though many mogul skiers can do multiple doubles. they also changed the scoring a couple years ago to de-emphasize speed and air and emphasize mogul skiing (probably to distance the sport from slopestyle) which really killed a lot of the interesting ways runs could differentiate themselves (pat deneen skiing FUCKING FAST AS SHIT and being able to podium, for example)
