tonite me and skipimp were screwing around and posting some funny shit

someone kept deleting out posts,

i think

1) names of mods should be made public

2) they should have to contact you via pm first

our posts didnt have any of the criteria HARVEY listed as grounds for censorship?

what the hell is this 1950's russia?

Who the mods are is no secret. There's a list on here somewhere.. I can't remember who they are off my head, but some people are me, cko, mdfresh, ductapeboy, phattim, rebel......

I didn't see your posts so I can't comment on why they are removed, but is it really that big a deal? You said yourself that you were just screwing around, so I'm sure it wasn't anything that people would've wanted to read anyways.

what do you think harvey of making it so that mods have to report to you about deleting entire posts or editing posts?

also if someone has a complete list of mods can i see it

i think that the whole point of having mods is so that Harvey doesn't have to spend all his waking hours scouring the forums for inappropriate or useless content. Harvey already spends 24/7 working on ns, and I'm sure its nice for him not to have to worry too much about it.

Harvey chooses the people he trusts to be moderators. Every mod will always have their own views of what should stay and what should be deleted but I have never heard of any complaints about someone deleting something that was actually important. As you said, you were just posting stupid shit and as such it probably warranted deletion.

but that's just my opinion

 
exactly, and why would you have to ask someone if you could delete their posts? That's defeats the whole purpose. Because of course you're just going to say no.

don't give the mods too hard of a time. they're generally out to do good, sometimes people get pissed off - and sometimes shit gets deleted that didn't neccessary need to be deleted, but shit happens. it's just a forum, not like someone is censoring an essay you wrote for english or something...

but yea, the mod's (as for as i can remember and it's been a while since i've been one so they might be changed) are - mdfresh, cko, ductapeboy, rebel, phattim, resnick_13, quebecfreestyler, ski_instructor_mike, harvey (obviously), detective... and um... is that all of em?

if you post something innapropriate or offensive it should be deleated...so dont be a dick and give the mods shit because ur pissed a post of yours was deleated...and hey its better to be pissed off then pissed on.

First of all i appreciate that harvey lets us chill here.

Secondly i wasent trying to raise shit i just wanted to know who deleted them and why.

And finally i was comparing the deleting of my posts to russia because like russians during the 50's they disappeares without any reason. that is all

No offence taken on my behalf. I think the main reason that there is no explanation for the deletions is time and space. I personally don't have the time to write a report everytime I delete something. But if you have a problem with something that was deleted there is no reason not to ask about it, after all, we try and make this place as free as possible.

 
Perhaps Matt could write up some sort of script that sends an automated message to a poster whose topic/message was deleted. Just something like,

'Your post, '(post name)', was deleted in (Forum Name) at (time, date) by (mod name). Please refrain from posting inapropriate content'

hmm.. I was thinking about that, like have a text box that would explain why it was deleted/moved. but still make it optional so people don't get messages when they double post a thread.

yes it wouldent take that much extra times on the mods behalf.

click delete button, write why, and i get msg that says why, who and when the post was deleted.
