MMSCC shut down?

I just heard this through the grape vine, trying to confirm with my friend who works there.

anyone else hear this?

ouch-those are some serious violations

why wouldnt you at least have a first aid nurse on hand?

Annett said he will appeal the suspension but will not call

off next week's camp. If Annett keeps the camp open

after 12:01 a.m. Sunday and the safety issues are not

addressed, Clackamas County Health Department workers will

call in sheriff's deputies, Gertler said.

really? Im actually really surprised by that and think its pretty dumb of them. i dont understand why they wouldnt

shit i really hope mhssc remains open and as dope as ever the only affordable ski camp that you actually ski on snow with

dudeeeee that is sooooo shitty , mh summer ski camp was sooooo sick this summer, there lane has some dope jumps and htey were so chill with people jsut shredding the lane if they dug a bit,  cool ass people

Wow...that really stinks, looked like such a cool camp for such cheap prices. With that said, it looks like we know where Sammy's new lane is gonna be for his camp that he has been talking about.

my understanding isn't that it is being shut down but that there are some things that will have to go for them to be able to stay alive

ha, i really doubt that this is permanent. They aren't just going to give up after like 30 years of running the camp. Sammy having a camp would be so sick though.

"The trampolines looked like they'd been dragged out of sight, and we didn't even know the zip line existed," Gertler said.

what the fuck, how can you not notice 3 inground trampolines right in the middle of everything

ok the tramps were straight janky, i can understand that. but how the fuck did they not have building permits for coho cabin, ive stayed there fro the last 3 years. this blows that place was awesome and i was gonna try to get a job there next year....hopefully they can fix everything.

thats pretty ridiculous they ran an entire camp for that long without inspections and with so many violations. guess youll have to go to the best ski camp ever now, CoC

the best camp ever that costs a shit ton of money and is in canada and since the dollar sucks ..... mhssc was the best camp ever

Ha we were jumping off these rocks into the hood river, and this entire bus of 10 year old racers comes from MMSCC, It was the worst place to ever take little kids. We were wondering about this exact situation. I know i will take heat for this but that camp deserves to be shut down.

BTW my 5th grade teacher owns that camp, and i thought she was very nice. Now my conflict of interest is known.

its a dude named mike something that owns MHSSC???

maybe your teacher was someone else who worked there, whats her name??

ya but anyways i was there like 2 weeks ago, and the 2nd last day we were there, the fire marshal came to check shit out for the first time in like 8 years. he came because 2 weeks earlier some kid broke his femur (ouch) on the tramp cause it was unsafe, and his dad called them in cause he was pissed.

ya so fire marshal came and put police line around all the skateboard ramps, the ziplines, all the tramps were closed down. we figured something would happen, but not like this. ya also there was a big problem with one of the lodges, the one where my team stayed, it had no permits and no occupancy limits and stuff like that. also fire exits were blocked n stuff. weird shit.

any ways i highly doubt that its closed for good, jsut till this blows over and they buy pads for their tramps

fucking biggest bullshit ive ever seen, take responsibility for yourself this is the same type of shit that happened at the RCR you know you could get hurt, dont fuck over other kids fun because you get hurt

wow, i had some of my best childhood memories at that place... fuck.

granted the trampolines were a little sketchy, there is always a risk when jumping on a tramp... it really sucks that one unfortunate person could potentially shut down an entire camp and ruin the fun a lot of kids could have had...

Whats even more disturbing to me is the fathers attitude. Personally if you don't know the risks... DAD you should not be sending your kid to these camps. [/sarcasm]I hope he knows how dangerous it is to drive and never allows his kid to drive, cause someone needs to put a spotlight on that too [/Sarcasm]

"I'm just glad to know these issues were taken

seriously," Greg Paulay said. "Hopefully we can

put the spotlight on camp safety and protect kids from

getting hurt, and raise the awareness of parents who send

their kids off with the best of intentions."

If things arent up to code, then shut em down. No building permits? Dumb...

Everyone else has to deal with these rules so why shouldnt ski camps.

What are you talking about?

Parents should be able to send their kids to ski camp without having to worry about things not being up to code. Bouncy on a broken trampoline is dangerous, sure you can get away with it, but at a summer camp that is unacceptable. Parents should only have to worry about their kids getting hurt trying stuff on the slopes, they should never have to wonder if their kids cabin is up to code.

None of the tramps have padding, and on the middle tramp theres a harness construction which is made of steel, and basically if you boost on their olympic tramps and get off balanced it doesnt look good. I got hurt a few times after drifting on corks. It does however, teach you to tramp perfectly. Poor MHSSC. Love that place.

MHSSC is not shut down

Dont beleive the bias media they will put anything they hear in their articles, regardless of credabilty

Camp is safe. Some of our activities have inherent risks, and if people dont want that they can go to a camp where arts and crafts are activities instead of paintball cliff jumping and so on

momentum doesn't have a nurse, but they have people trained in first aid...the report said mmscc didn't have a nurse or any staff trained in first aid...i know momentum does...and if it anything bigger then a band aid and tlc can fix then the clinc is a 2 min walk.

while i agree with you that the dad should have known the risks going into it and realized the skiing is dangerous i am concerned with the fact that the camp was either intentionally ignoring the safety issues and code violations, or was negligent to the fact there were safety and code violations. I don't know which is worse.

and i know they very well may not have known that there were code violations, and that is ok....i guess. but not having anyone on staff with first aid knowledge is a little ridiculous! also having trampolines with no padding...come on....that's an easy one to fix. then housing your campers in a building that has not been approved...that's just stupid.

now i don't know the whole story, perhaps they applied for and went through all the right channels to have the building zoned and an occupancy approved and the state failed, i don't know, i cant tell from the article. i wish there was more information to make an informed decision about the issue. I think the dad is over reacting, and the state for shutting them down is over reacting and trying to save their own butts because they dropped the ball. but simple safety precaution should be in place, and the state shouldn't have to tell a camp what they are, they should know....at least from experience because this camp has been around for a while, im sure they have gained some knowledge from experience about safety.

The the fathers post is worded gives me de ja vu regarding the Kenny Salvini thing.

I dunno.. you bounce on a trampoline fall and break a leg. You ski and hit a tree. whats next padding around trees? I am just looking at the incident that got the scrutiny rolling.

Funny though, we have a resort in our area that has tons of chainlink fence to keep people from going off into the trails.

YOU CRAZY FOOL rob

glad to hear its up and running again, buts its like this whole RCR resort thing again...everything can kill everything

that really sucks but that they are getting shut down but someone that stuff they really should have taken care of. It so easy to have someone certified in as a lifeguard and CPR and first aid
