sox clinch a spot tonight, looks like the playoff teams will be

rays, redsox, whitesox, angels, mets, cubs, dodgers, mets.

i think it will be angels cubs in the WS, angels take it. what do you guys think?

well known to ns im a proud boston sports fan but i just honestly think the angels are better than the sox...
 
well the mets wont make it very far with their pitching. i really hope its the red sox and dodgers in the world series just to see manny play against the sox. but theres a lot of good teams in there. being a red sox fan i hope they go back to back. but the angels and the rays are going to give them a hard time. its anyones game......except for the mets
 
i havent ruled out the rays at all. i ruled them out at the allstar break, saying they would fall apart, but they havent. it seems like every time the sox win they win as well, and every time we lose they gain a game on us. theyll be tough, especially playing in the trop
 
I think the angels have a pretty good chance, and I can see the Cubs managing to blow it somehow.
 
I wanna see a BoSox - Cubs World Series. With the cubbies hopes dashed again. Although, if Boston in, Cubs all the way. Just cause they've been waiting a really really long time
 
nope the whitesox won't make it...twins are going to sweep them and go into this with a .5 game lead into the final 3 games and then sweep the royals to win the division...but then the twins will lose right away to the redsox.

Theres a lot of AL love in here. I am hoping for an all Chicago World Series, with the Cubs ending a rather long drought.
 
thanks, we don't care. i guess the title "MLB Playoffs" triggerd some desire in your head to post here, i'm glad you made a very educated and wise input on the MLB Playoffs, I'll be looking forward to your future posts.

I really hope the Twins can pull off their fifth division title in seven years, with the big win over the chisox in game one I hope the momentum carries over to tonight and they take game two, though it will be tough with burhle on the mound but the twins can do it.

If the twins don't make it want the devil rays to win...because honestly i never thought in my life time i would see the devil rays in first place ahead of the redsox and the yankees....and plus how cool does the rays vs. cubs in the world series sound? acutally any team but the redsox in the world series would be fine with me most teams this year aren't the typical teams its fun!
 
i dont think any team from the NL east will make the pennant. Neither team has the depth at starting pitching to beat CHI, or LA for that matter. Im gonna say CUBS vs. ANGELS, angels taking it all
 
curious if anyone is an angles fan. for how good their record has been all season, seems like you don't hear that much about them
 
really true about the angels...the only thing you really hear about is K-Rod which is way sweet and when ever he comes in the other team has no hope....well and plus the angels just have an insane batting line up with

it would suck to face that...then on pitching you got santana, saunders, lacky weaver...its good starting pitching...they are a solid team.

i would like to see the cubs in the series that would be really cool...
 
if it is an all chicago world series there will probably being some rioting or at least i hope cause if there is im defenitaly driving up for game 7 if it goes that far!!!!!!!!

tho realy i dont think any one is goin to steal the series away from the CUBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! their starting pitching is lights out!!!!!! you got the big three: Zambrano, Harden, and Dempster then youve got carlos marmol, kerry wood, and jeff samardjza backing them up...............

Im sorry, Im not jealous of the cubs. Sorry, but not winning a world series in 100 years sucks. Too bad I was there to watch my braves win the world series in 95. Im pretty sure, even though the braves suck now, that I will never be jealous of the cubs. I just hate them, even as a little kid...I was the biggest baseball fan ever and I really wanted to play, so my parents signed me up for t ball and I was going to play till I learned I was going to play for the cubs. I decided to play soccer instead. I was a smart little 4 year old.
 
haha how can anyone hate the cubs?????? i mean they havent won the WS in 100 yars so they couldnt have really offended any team that bad........

tho ive only been watchin the cubs for a few years and im not to deep in there history....... and no im not a band wagon person i just really enjoy watching the cubs............
 
looks like the sox are facing the angels in the first round. im not actually sure anymore that the sox wont get past the angels. you really only need 2-3 starters, and with beckett dicek and lester the redsox are a pretty damn good team.

beckett has like a 1.2 playoff era or something in his career. and in history the sox have owned the angels in the playoffs.
 
rays v cubs would be nice

rays since, well, usually they are just horrible, but have been quite remarkable this year (but tropicana field is ugly as hell)

cubs since they havent won it all in a loooooooooong time.

angels have won it recently

same with the redsox

whitesox are a boring team

same with dodgers

 
Got to be loving to be a twins fan right now...its getting exciting if we can beat the whitesox tomorrow and go a half game up with three games left on the year it would be sweet...it would be remarkable if the twins do anything in the playoffs but they could...they would play the bosox right away
 
I'm sorry about my lack of insight. I just do not enjoy the game that much. I'm not a fan of the game as in my opinion it is slowpaced and i don't like to watch or play things like that. I'm much more interested in intense sports like skiing (thus why i am on places such as Newschoolers). That is another reason why i don't watch football as often any more. On the occasion long drive than it is entertaining to watch but about half of the thing is filler or commercials and the only time i look forward to commercials is during the superbowl b/c they are actually funny. Although, last year in my opinion, was not the best but none the less there were still funny ones. Back to my point, i was thinking that some people on NS like me do not enjoy the game of baseball so i guess i represent them in some small way. Sorry about that again, I'll keep my next post to a 200 word minimum
 
Wow there are a lot of Twins fans here! haha i love the Twins-White Sox show downs at the end of the season! I so wish I could go to the game tonight with my broom. SWEEP! But the Twins are pretty good at letting down in the playoffs... however they seem to play the Red Sox tough so maybe, just maybe they'll put on their game face and do something this year. Gardy needs some playoff wins under his belt.
 
they sure did get the sweep but now we got 3 games left with the royals and the whitesox got 4 games left with the tigers which means...if wee sweep the royals and they sweep the tigers we end in a tie cause we are only a half game up and on that 4th game they would make up that half game...we would then go into a play off...

but all we need is the whitesox to lose one game and we got it if we sweep the royals so go twins!!!
 
Yeah man that game was epic last night! The sweep was huge! As long as the Twinks don't play down to the competition I think they'll get in... they have so much momentum after that huge sweep and for the Sox to reel off 4 games would be pretty difficult. Time to get a nice new hanky for '08... GO TWINS!
 
actually the white sox have 3 games against cleveland and 1 make up against detroit the best thing is is that the sox have to face cliff lee on sunday and the twins are pitching liriano, perkins and baker. I think we got this GO TWINS!!!!
