He's a second generation Cuban. His father was born in Cuba and migrated to the US. I can see why you got confused though seeing as how one the qualifications to be a US Senator is that the individual had to had lived in the US for past nine years.

Romney specifically said in his speech last night that he wasn't going to raise taxes on the middle class. Now I know thats all speculation because its one thing for politicians to say something, but for them to actually put their money where their mouth is seems to be a rare phenomenon (i.e. Obama saying he'll cut the deficit in 2008). I guess we can only wait and see if Romney is a.) elected and b.) if he sticks to his word. Also, I know that the GDP-debt ratio isn't the only indicator that reflects the shape of the economy, but it represents the epitome of our problems (we are spending more than we are making). That epitome is represented many different aspects of the economy. For example the US Federal Spending for this year alone is currently at 3.5 trillion dollars yet the total US Federal Tax Revenue is 2.4 trillion. Whats even worse about this number is the US Federal Budget Deficit is 1.2 trillion which means that our government is inflating spending-revenue ratio by making money. This decrease in the value of currency not only hurts small business's in this country, but hurts our status in the global-international market. It especially hurts our status in the global market because Americas number one expert are services which were otherwise expensive in other countries when we had a high valued currency. Well now that the value is going down, those services are increasingly becoming cheaper for other countries. What this does is decrease our country's opportunity costs and turns our what used to be an absolute advantage that we had on those services, into what is now a comparative advantage. This will only continue to happen as long as our government uses inflation as a tactic towards economic recovery.
This is why Im choosing Romney over Obama. Romneys plan stops inflation and essentially allows the free-market to actually act as a FREE-market. All of Obamas so on so success's are the direct result of inflation and people need to start recognizing this as a deceiving statistic because it is counter-productive in almost all aspects of the economy. I can GUARANTEE that if Obama gets reelected than he will be the one raising the taxes for the middle class. The only reason why people don't recognize this is because he will be doing this for every class in America which is either deceiving or because some americans seem to be okay with it, maybe even both. My economics professor even told the other day that if Obama gets elected than the majority of eligible tax payer in this country will be see the highest income tax rate they have ever had regardless of class. This is perfectly logical because the mans policy towards economic recovery calls for as much government funding as possible. He is simply a socialist, his actions pretty much define socialism word for word. Now socialism sounds good theoretically, but it realistically never works because it simply cannot operate efficiently due to the complexities of the market (something it doesn't account for). Every social program funded by the federal government has never worked as intended, social security will not EXIST in nine years and medicare wont in twelve because they will be bankrupt yet the two are the LARGEST budget items, yes even more than defense. Im oblivious as to why some think that Obamacare will work, if you want to see how the government runs part of the health care industry than all you have to do is look at the VA Hospitals... Thats some A+ health care right there haha.
 
I also wanted to address the ones who are saying that global warming will jeopardize our sport. Well I personally and unfortunately could only go skiing ONCE last year because I simply could not afford to get up to the mountains. I also had no time to go because my schedule pretty consisted of school and work seeing as how I work full time and am a full time student. Its beyond me how people balance the two out to find time for skiing, that is of course if you are not independent. Hopefully I'll find some time this year because I've found some ways to save money. I had my girl move in with me so we could split the cost of rent and bills so I've been saving some that way. Im still strapped for cash though some I don't have any expectations. Regardless of that though, its still incredibly depressing for me to not actively participate in the greatest sport in the world. I went from 50 days underneath my belt to just 1, talk about a drop off.

You are a fucking moron. There is overwhelming evidence that the globe is indeed warming (but its better to refer to it as climate change) and that more than likely it is being greatly exacerbated by humans. These are based on climate records that have been kept since early in the 20th century. The 2000's were the warmest decade on record, and 2012 has been one of the warmest years ever. This shit is a big issue because a climate shift will fuck with our food production systems, as well as ecosystems that we as humans rely on for survival. Please dont be ignorant of the issue, it really has the potential to cause major problems on a global scale. Its not inevitable, but the global climate is changing and to deny this and its potential consequences is dangerous.
 
since this is in the mindset of this thread.

i sincerely believe that one of the two most important issues facing modern politics and the human society as a whole is to create a level playing field in regards to access to clean drinking water, food and education.

poorer countries need more (although a lot of progress is made in that direction) help in providing these fundamental things to their people.

NEXT up is stopping humans footprint. seriously, if you dont want to believe in manmade global warming, you dont have to. but i dont know how anyone in their right mind would argue that substituting a non-reusable resource for a reusable one is wrong.

we need to find a way to protect whats left of this earth and reduce our reliance on oil and other fossil resources FOR THE FUCKING SAKE of doing it. sun, wind, tides, wood, i dont give a damn, but we have no future on this earth until we figure that out. and we need to do it fast. maybe we have 50 or 100 years, but i would doubt it. obviously, the earth will live on, but it probably wont have anything to do with what we call earth now.

obviously, green companies are in it for the money. yea no shit. armada is in it for the money (i am an old school guy, i was around when armada was "core"), all those first drop, saga or whatever shit, they are all in it for the money. yet you suck their respective cooperational dicks.
