Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, Gary Sheffield, 2005 National League Most Valuable Player Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox captain Jason Varitek, as well as Johnny Damon, Nomar Garciaparra, Miguel Tejada and Kerry Wood.
 
i also just heard it involves players from all teams, what do you all think there punishments/reprimands should be, and what is the most effective way to keep the problems from continueing?
 
I dont know where you got those names because some of those players were not in it. Sheffield already admitted to using, so he wasn't in it, Pujols was not in it, Garciaparra was not in it
 
sucks to read that shit.

alot of players used them just because of injuries and to recuperate faster then you normally would.

either way it sucks. talk about a black eye on baseball. crap, whats next?
 
I have been looking forward to this day for awhile now, since I am studying sports management and I will be defenatly reading the report over my christmas break.

I personally agree with Mitchell on that the players that were named within the report should not be punished for their actions. I agree with this because MLB and the MLBPA turned a blind eye to all of this and have not "upgraded" their testing standards to be able to test the non-dected growth hormons. However, as it goes for recognizing these players in the Hall of fame or other "record breaking stats", i am not sure how the MLB should deal with this. Maybe it should be left alone because of the fact again, MLB is partially to blaim for their players using drugs, who knows. Lastly, I agree with Mitchell on that we should not focus on the names (even though everyone will for the first few days) and hopefully people will embrace his recomedations on how to clean up the game, and hopefully lead the way on combating PEDs for professional sports organizations.
 
Simon Gagne was also just recently mentioned, the report is avaliable directly on the front page of ESPN.com.  players from all 30 teams have been found guilty.  I feel that there punishment should be harsh(very large suspension) then allowed to come back and play, with weekly to monthly probation tests.  It wont accomplish anything if the penalties arent harsh enough, if a player gets a slap on the wrist he'll do it again.  But expelling players wont be fair, because some players just feel pressured and obligated to use steroids due to the fact the want to be competetive.
 
Paul Lo Duca, is another of current players.  And most were blamed due to checks/ and or trainer or doctor tesitimony, and it was stated that all "current" players didnt come forward to interview/speak with mitchell about the allegations.  If they didnt have anything to hide, why not  come forward?
 
I disagree, players should not be displined based on what they did on the past, up to and including yesterday. I say this because the MLB has take some responsibility on letting the league come to this state. As i said before, i think a more extensive drug policy and drug testing system is a must and that the current punishments for players violating the current drug policy is sufficient for now, but if the past repeats itself, the policy will include expulsions from the league in the very near future i believe, because there is no where in sports for performance enhancing drugs.
 
haha u probably could have named any other player on the sox other than varitek and i would have believed u. I no brendon donelly and eric gagne were both part of it.
 
hahah thats a pritty big list. isnt brian roberts like TBD, cause they were saying on ESPN that no one had concrete evidence of him it was kinda just a i heard from this guy who heard from that guy that roberts did steroids.
 
haha i had to go find the actual list to make sure varitek wasnt on there.

i dont think it should be retroactive seeing as it's all mostly based on heresay and there havent been widespread test results.
 
There are alot of players they couldnt find concrete evideince, i found variteks name on a New York Post site in an article.  And in a few others as well that were'nt mentioned in the list.
 
on the radio this morning they were talking about how huge it would be if cal ripken jr was on the list because it would explain how he never had one injury his whole career and never missed a game
 
if it is proved brian roberts does steroids i will quit watching baseball forever. hes probably my favorite player in the game right now
 
yea seriously, besides that i dont see any other clevelanders on that list. thats cool that we can win without cheating.
