Miss mount

i just bought a pair of new armada alpha 2s from a ski sale event and took them to ski cellar to get them mounted at -1.5 when i got home i noticed they looked far back so i put my boot in and the center line was at -3.5. i called and they offered a remount.

so i have a few options

1. get them remounted for free

2. ask for new skis

3. ask for store credit

now i got the skis for a sale price of 280. but their also new. and is remounting a big deal to ski quality and resale price. i dont want to be a prick but i put in 30 hours of work this summer these skis.

demand some new skis! if a ski shop mounted my skis wrong id be so pissed! it really is pathetic that a qualified ski tech could get a simple mount so wrong!

what are the chances of them not giving me skis? and what should i say to the manager so that i dont come across as rude. like if he says remounting wont effect the integrity of my skis what do i say??

id say that by remounting them there is now a weak point in the ski and that these were brand new and now they are screqed up due to your fault, something like that

i didnt buy the skis at the shop i bought them 50% off somewhere else will they still probubly give me new skis

Why not? They messed up your ski, so they have to give you a new pair. I bought some kung fujas from a ski shop in montreal, but i got them mount at Oberson in brossard. Thy tech drilled them too far and the screw was bumping my base. I call them and i explain the problem, they offer me a free remount i say no, i asked for new ski and they managed too find someSo my tought would be, they have to give you new ski, same one if itys possible, but since they don't carry Armada, they must give you another ski of your choice ( in the price range of the one you bought ) thats my 2 cents

Fact is you brought a pair of brand new skis (doesn't matter where they came from) into the shop and they drilled 8 holes in your ski where you don't want them. If you get the bindings remounted the extra holes will affect the integrity of your ski (though in reality very minorly). If they argue with you, ask the tech if he would mind you drilling 8 extra holes in his skis. Try and cop a new pair from them, they're the ones who messed up.

thanks for the advice. now if they offer to give me new skis what should i get. i heard salomon 2012s are more durable then the suspects and they also have line, rossignol, k2 and atomic. i want a good park ski that will hold up on rails and has playfull flex. and also can be taken all mountain. thats why i picked my armadas to begin with.

what the fuck??

thats not right! they did not buy them, u did, from another place, they dont have nay right to take them!!!

go get em the fuck back!!!!

whys that bullshit? I mean the shop that screwed up the mounting is already out several hundred dollars.. Just because they messed up doesn't mean he should get 2 pairs of skis that doesn't make sense. They fucked up his so they replaced them with a ski of his choice and they sell those used.. Am I the only one that thinks that makes perfect sense?

well I would agree with you if he had purchased the skis from the shop that screwed up his mount, but he didn't. they were never the shop's skis. they were his property all along.

You are right. Same things happen whit my fujas, they drilled too far they keep them and gave me new one. Its normal, i came whit one pair of ski and i leave whit one pair of ski. Every shop do that.

How is that not bullshit? I'll tell you. He payed them to do a job and they fucked up his property. Doesn't matter if it he bought the alphas from the store or not. Once you buy something its yours. They ruined a $550 ski so he is already out on some of his money and the experience. Are you seriously comparing getting 2012s instead of ARMADA ALPHA 1s? Thats absurd to me. #1 the quality of ski is completely different and they ruined his durability by mismounting the alphas in the first place. #2 they may ride completely different so yes he should get both skis back. Only other thing a shop should do is buy the same skis for him and THEN take the alphas that they fucked up. Sorry, but I'm tired of shop people posting on here about how dumb customers are, but then so many skis or other gear gets fucked up and they are supposed to be let off the hook. It should go both ways. He paid for a service, and didn't get it. End of story.

OP- It sucks that your skis got misdrilled, but did you do everything in your control to ensure there was no confusion? From working in a shop, I know that with all flat skis that have about 6 different mounting point options each saying their own way of mounting (I want 2 back of -1.5) things can get pretty confusing.

You should ALWAYS put masking tape on your top sheet and draw on the tape a line where YOU want them mounted. Do not leave it up to someone else to interpret what 1.5 back from center means, because measuring center is not as easy you think. I know that was not was what was asked for but just using it as an example.

If you don't want any mounting mistakes, you have to do everything in your control to make things as clear as possible. Then at least if anything goes sideways, there is no confusion as to who is responsible.

Cliff notes: always label on the ski where you want them mounted. Labeling the tips and tails is a good idea too.

He's not really out of any money at all.. Just a bit of time, He chose the 2012s, the shop had line, salomon, k2, atomic and rossi not they're fault he wanted 2012s.I realize they fucked his ski thats why they gave him a new one. #2 doesn't make sense to me. And I agree its shitty that the shop didn't go buy him some alpha 1s but honestly I think they had enough selection that the kid could've got a very similar ski. Thats just my opinion, your entitled to yours; whatever

Solid advice needs to be a pop up stickey

So look around c list and local forums kids there are a lot of good techs that work out of their garage or basement.

I ussually do the mount with the person present or even let them do it with guidence.

ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE

on the other hand shops are busy places full of non rocket scientists who ski, drink and puff tough a lot

so the more you do to insure the shop or whatever stoner mounts your shizz as you want it do it

Sharpie em up it comesoff

its fine if they keep the alphas. i took the skis into the shop and like a week later i come back and pick up a pair of skis that i like more. so even though i had to drive their and back like 5 times i got alot out of it.
