Thats ridiculous, just because someone is good at skiing doesn’t mean anybody has to support them. Not when they say the N word like 5 times in an IG live trying to ruin a startup brand because him and his homie don’t know how to mount skis. Im not trying to hurt your feelings but you’re in a similar situation on NS as he is. If you say stupid shit, people are gonna think your stupid. It would be a disservice to not tell you how it really is. Go look at a picture of the misfits, theres no epoxy on the topsheet, they said the wood is soft, like holy fuck I wonder why, its almost like the ski has water damage. Like I said many times I actually like Chris but he is undeniably a narcissist and acts impulsively. Total asshole move he pulled the other day. Don’t get sucked into thinking he is this Godly skier who changed the sport, hes a good skier but if you say disrespectful shit and conspiracy theories, that is how the community will perceive you. Very entertaining indeed. To throw some points out there without making this a penis measuring contest against ankilla; our durability is on par with most brands, we use a poplar and beech core with the standard 10-11mm wood thickness in the center and it tapers out towards the ends, we try to have the beech under where the binding screws go so that it’s a harder wood you are drilling into. We use a heavier fiberglass underfoot to thicken and stiffen the middle third of the ski platform. We come out of a factory that produces other huge name skis (won’t say specifics, they might not like us to) using the exact same materials and labor and pay the same price (probably even pay more per ski due to our scale). There is no corner cutting to save cost, it’s all the same materials and processes they would use for any other company they produce for. We price our skis lower to be more accessible to those who want a good ski to ride, but could charge $600-800 like most other ski companies coming out of our factory. We also are continually adjusting the construction wanting to make a better and better ski each season, and for only our second season with a product on the market I believe we are doing just fine and on the right path from what started as a ski pressed in our garage to now about 200 total skiers on our skis between this season and last. Ankilla is still the only person to rip out like that, and be it 5 times is mind boggling indeed, so I am unsure how to fully address that issue. Myself (Ian) and the rest of the team stand behind the quality of the product and will continue to tweak and modify each season as needed (for example this year was the first production run of the 96 park ski, it’s a little stiffer than we wanted so tweaks will be made to soften up next seasons version). I’m not going to point fingers and blame the mount or the ski or the skier, definitely a independent case for now unless people start ripping out left and right (would bet money that won’t happen). Really enjoying the small ski community beef though, stokes the flame of a dying industry. Cheers fuckers

one guy said he got them mounted at multiple different shops and a couple of people are saying he mounted them himself. anyone’s guess at this point

Yeah I think as far as pulling out goes, if you have enough data points you're bound to see outliers. There are also so many factors that go into a binding's hold on the ski. I don't think a ski by itself can be blamed for something like this unless lots of people with different bindings in all conditions had the same issues. Or if lots of people in all conditions with only one particular binding had this issue. I love all small ski companies and I appreciate that you guys are one of them. Keep pressing skis and stoking the community

But yeah dawg the ski is NOT meant to butter at all, which is sad bc the owners Lukas and Ian advertised the flex and butter of the skis to me in person before I bought my first pair. So the skis’ durability is extremely questionable. IMO I wasted 450$ this season on the new Misfit 96s.

On ankillas story he talked about how his bindings keep ripping out (he’s had 5 bindings rip out). What in the constitution make misfits do this but most skis don’t?

last years skis def have wayyyy more flex, I mounted both my skis with paper templates in my garage, one pair has quiver killers(last years), and the other is normally mounted. I always dry my skis off after skiing and keep them indoors, as they tend to last longer that way. this years misfits have a more uniform medium flex, and get super soft at the tip and tail where there are no edges, and a normal amount of rocker and camber. whereas last years skis had a very stiff underfoot, a hinge point halway between binding and tip, and once broken in were CRAZY soft. they also were extremely wide, but have the same turn radius as my 96s. The thing I liked so much about last years was the crazy amount of rocker and camber, that is what made them perform and look so cool, and side by side with this years the old ones have Wayyy more rocker, the tips stick up significantly higher. both skis are fun, and shred imo, but are definately not the softest skis ever

last years are falling apart on the tips and tails for me, they are splitting. Last years had some edge cracks too, not sure if i didn't detune enough, but i detuned pretty crazy. the rocker was definitely the best part, made reverts and other weird tricks so ez and fun.
