Misdemeanor's

This weekend I was arrested for marijuana and paraphernalia possession. I'm just wondering what other people's experiences with charges like this have been like.

~$5000 fines, 12 months outpatient rehab (UA every month), 2 days jail and 2 years probation for similar charge of possesion of marijuana less than 40 grams and a paraphernalia charge.

annnnnd now i have to live with the charge on my record for the rest of my life. lost out on a couple of jobs but now i'm in a good spot so no big deal

this was in washington state, so i'm gonna imagine fines/punishments are going to be a little more severe basically everywhere else

the best piece of advice i can give is try and do any sort of deferred sentencing. do NOT fuck up treatment, if it's court ordered.

I was charged with:

-misdemeanor reckless driving because I parked my jeep up on a hill in a park and apparently that is reckless driving.

- Endangering the welfare of a child - my friend was 17 at the time

-Vandalism - there were "ruts"

-Open container - My friend who is 21 was there and cracked a beer after we got out(Before the cop even showed up) and accused him and I of having that while we were driving.

I should have gotten jail time but I got off on ACD for 6 months which is kind of like probation in the sense that you can't get in trouble for the time being but the charges are also dismissed at the end as long as you don't get in trouble.

The best thing you can do is get a lawyer. It all depends on what state you're in, what your record looks like, and some other stuff.

I got busted for distribution and firearm possession a couple years back. No big deal though, I only got a couple years, so I was back on the street slangin' in no time.

That's gonna highly depend on what state you were busted in. You should probably hire a lawyer if you want a good outcome for your case though, public defenders won't do shit. You might even be able to have it off your record if its your first offense (sounds like it is), but you're almost certainly gonna have to quit smoking weed for a while so you don't violate your probation.

No shit, there's no way they could say you had willful and wanton disregard for human life in your driving by calmly driving to the top of a hill.

~$4,500 in fines, Rehab (with 2 month check ups for a year) and drug court in the state of Nevada for possession of two schedule II drugs (OxyCotin and coke) I've completed the Oxy rehab, but am still doing checks with my coke one. Not to mention the community service hours, and having them doubled for failing a test.

When I was brought in (the worst part is being arrested right by the court house) I spat at an officer and threw an absolute fit, not to mention I was under the influence. That didn't help. The good thing about NV is if you qualify for drug court, your charges can be dropped form your record. I get off with nothing more than a speeding ticket to my name.

Get a good lawyer kid, and you'll get off easy. That's what I did.

Sorry that happened to you op. Depending on state laws, you most likely owe a shit ton of money, and have to go to some prevention class. For me, the class was basically AA.

Oh you got in trouble for weed, here we will teach you how to drink safely.

Jesus I haven't thought about my charges in such a long time.

-been charged twice for public indecency, I think the fines were about $800 each. Kinda bullshit if you ask me but it was one of those situations where I paid the fine and it didn't go on my record.

-possession of illegal drugs (tabs and shrooms) after someone called the cops on me for a noise complaint and I was stupid enough to answer the door before moving my stuff out of plain view. I got like a $1000 fine and six months probation because I really didn't have all that much.

-then a bunch of driving stuff. Probably totaling to over $10k. My grandfather raced formula 1 so I blame him for my need for speed.

haha, awesome. i spat at a cop while getting arrested once and it led to me getting my face slammed on the counter while handcuffed. Asshole split my brow wide open......and I totally deserved it. thanks, whiskey and narcotics.

Ahh one of those classic Jeep drivers who park in absurd spots because they "can". Not saying you deserved all that sounds like some BS charges in there

My friend got charged with possession. 6 months probation with routine drug testing and I think he had to pay some small fines. It's now off his record

I definitely deserved the reckless driving ticket, I never said I didn't, but the other charges were bullshit. I was in a bad part of Buffalo and the 4 of us were from a notoriously wealthy suburb and the cops were assholes about it. They referred to us as "those kids from op" so right away I knew they weren't gonna hold anything back. Also, two of the kids I was with have records that I wasn't aware of at the time so that didn't help much.

Well some asshole cop tried to give me a DWAI leaving A-Basin a couple days ago. You need to blow .05 or higher, I never once blew .05 not even at the side of the road, much less when he arrested me and took me into the station. I didn't get a speeding ticket which is legit and all charges were dropped when I blew well below the limit, but I had to take a taxi up Loveland Pass and it fucked up our day pretty nicely

LOL sucks to be in the US. The police here are kinda nice i feel like i would have gotten a fine or some shit if i lived there.

Really depends on the town and the cop. For every bad case listed above there is plenty of stories of cops hookin people up. Me included

The worst "time" you've done was when you were grounded you fuckboi #calledout

A few months ago, my girlfriend and I got stopped at a roadblock and I was driving. The officers skipped all the pleasantries and jumped straight to "Your eyes are not reacting to any change in light at all" the second I had my window rolled down. I don't even smoke pot all that often, and the last time I have was 3 days prior to this night, still haven't since. Anyways since I had spent all day in bed with a migraine and just went to go for a late night drive with the lady, I was really off my game and I ended up failing my soberiety test. After that, they wouldn't listen to a word I said, towed my car, drove the two of us home, and told my dad I must've been using "some hardcore chemicals". Luckily my father immediately knew the whole thing was bullshit.

Anyways I ended up speaking to a lawyer, and together we wrote what I thought was a pretty good letter to ask the superintendent of ICBC (BC's insurance corporation) to review my case and reinstate my license. The request was denied.

So now here I am waiting to speak to my lawyer before I forfeit my license. Basically I'm not gonna be allowed to drive for 3 months simply because the cops were pretty damn sure I was high, without any evidence whatsoever supporting that claim, yet there's somehow nothing I can do now. It sucks, but at least my family is supportive and willing to help ensure my ability to ski and work this winter will not be compromised.

Two minor consumption charges.

Got my first MC at my first high school party that I went to. My parents told me to go and experience college. I got my license suspended for 3 months, had to attend AA meetings, had to write a lengthy essay explaining how I am sorry and how I learned from the experience, and I got 20 hours of community service.

For my second MC it was homecoming week my freshman year of college, and my DD got pulled over for speeding. I only got a $20 fine and 24 hours of community service.

That's insane. In MN it's a payable citation until you get like 4 or more.

I got 1 underage drinking ticket the summer after my senior year when we threw a party at my friend's house. It was worth it.

Two years ago I got arrested for underage drink and drive, under .08, and obstruction of justice. Due to the absolutely ridiculous circumstances surrounding my arrest, I took a deal and only plead guilty to petty misdemeanor obstruction of justice and paid a $100 fine and have no criminal record. Lawyers FTW, shitty cops FTL.

Your username is scaredwhiteboy. You did none of those things.

In grade school I got sent to the principal's office for burning a leaf with a magnifying glass.

I didn't choose the thug life, the thug life chose me.

got caught with stems in High School. Got it down from possession to use of marijuannna. Ended up with 6 months probation, 30 hours of community service. Good luck in the system brah, pass all your tests and you will be fine. Adult probation is easier than juvenile.

Wow some of your charges and fines are a little extreme for just having a an 1/8 and a pipe. All places Ive lived that would be a most a criminal citation and that carries a max of a $1k fine and no jail. And thats been IL/WI/OH/WY

Never had charges brought against me for drugs. Was always very smart about where I took my drugs, how I took my drugs, and when I took my drugs.

Although I was a reckless smoker when I was younger, I try to keep those activities at home to spare the legal trouble.

But it really depends on the state, how old you are, and what the circumstances were for charges to be brought against you.

....One BIG thing that might make a difference here is whether or not it was in a car though, thats where 99.9999% of the small time tickets happen.
