Mirror Lens Goggles

Do mirror lenses block out more sun than see through lenses?

- I want to know if the 'mirror' actually blocks more sun or is it just paint.

My current lens is a little tinted but not much. Almost clear. I'm thinking about getting a mirror lens for sunny days. Would they work better than my clear ones?

Yes. It does not have to be mirrored(most dark lenses are though) but a clear lens is not good for sunny days. It's probably uncomfortable and you might even hurt your eyes after a while.

mirrored are made for the bluebird days, but they don't do you much good for cloudy days. if you're thinking about getting one to switch out, make sure you keep your lighter one too

mirror lenses do block the sun better, but use them only on really sunny days. don't be one of those kids riding in NY with a fire iridium lense

yeaah this. most of the east those are useless and you will be blind.

black iriduim is pretty nice, blocks the sun, you can still see, and most importantly no one can see your eyes so you look like a badass.

Mirror &#8800 better for sunny conditions.

A low vlt (visible light transmission) lens is better for sunny conditions, and they may or may not be mirrored. Likewise, for overcast conditions you want a high vlt lens (which could also be mirrored).

The perception of mirror will vary depending on the vlt level. On a low vlt or 'dark' lens like my Smith Platinum Mirror lens it is very hard for someone to see through from the outside and the mirror is quite reflective. On a high vlt or 'light' lens like my Smith Sensor Mirror lens someone on the outside can see my eyes but also a reflection of themselves.

If you already have a nearly clear pair of goggles I would highly suggest getting a darker pair for sunny conditions. I'd imagine you get quite sore eyes wearing the current ones in sunlight. If you have some spare coin smith I/O's are sick. It's so easy to change the lens you basically get two pairs of goggles in one.
