Minneapolis right now...

Hyland/Elm creek is the closest but they aren't that great at the moment. I like Elm Creek better than Hyland at the moment. Trollhaugen has the best rail park, it puts some of the stuff out west to shame. Buck Hill is alright, I don't really like it. Afton is pretty fun, I really like going there.

Don't come here its too Grey! Grey trees, grey cities , grey sky I've got a couple grey airs, greyhound, grey squirrel.

Grey or gray (see spelling differences) is an intermediate color between black and white. It is a neutral or achromatic color, meaning literally that it is a color "without color."[2] It is the color of a cloud-covered sky, of ash and of lead.[3]

The first recorded use of grey as a color name in the English language was in AD 700.[4] Grey is the dominant spelling in European and Commonwealth English, although gray remained in common usage in the UK until the second half of the 20th century.[5] Gray has been the preferred American spelling since approximately 1825,[6] although grey is an accepted variant.[7][8]

In Europe and the United States, surveys show that grey is the color most commonly associated with conformity, boredom, uncertainty, old age, indifference, and modesty. Only one percent of respondents chose it as their favorite color.[9]

Never been but the new set up caleb built out there looked pretty rad. Buck hill that is.

acton sucked not even because its warm, but because it just sucks.

buck hill will be better when it gets colder and the jumps stop melting right after there shaped.

elm is fun but small. full of sugar so its really slow at the bottom.

and hyland is just hyland, sometimes its good sometimes its bad depends on the volume of people.

and troll is legit as always.

Afton gets a bad rep but they usually have a decent setup, and there is actually some fun natural terrain to ride. There was a big drop off the side of the mogul hill to tranny and you could get 15+ feet of air.

Troll is amazing. Great rails, jumps have been pretty meh when I've been out.

Haven't been to hylands so no comment.

Buck is always shit, steer clear.

afton is actually pretty fun! no big jumps yet obviously but the rails are fun and the smaller jumps can be decent. and lord knows we need more skiers. so many snowboarding rats and little fucking kids that can't ride the damn rope.

troll's jumps always blow ass, but if you want rails, go there.

You really might want to hit up Trollhaugen. You probably dont want to come all the way up to Duluth but Spirit Mountain has a really good jump line right now and is getting in lots of rails. The only problem is there is a lack of snow and a lot of rain floating through Minnesota right now. Anyways wherever you go will be great.

Thanks for the input! Troll is an hour from where we are staying but it sounds like it will be worth the trek. Spirit is a lot of fun as well, I've been making trips down there for years, but I'm excited to see what the rest of area has to offer. Never ridden a rope tow park before so that should be fun.

Troll is a hike and if you're willing to make the drive, head to spirit mountain for some awesome jumps and fast lines. Closest thing to out west skiing at this point of the season.

rope tow parks will blow your mind and your arms. go fast into the rope, don't be the fucker that can't ride the rope, and enjoy the blazing hop laps.

and i'm jealous it's only an hour for you. where i live it's an hour to the nearest good hill, and 2 hours to troll. (welch village doesn't count as a ski area)

It is shit right now in the cities so buck sucks, but troll is better and has good rails. Afton is also pretty good. Wild mountain just got a new set up and they normally have good jumps, but the website says all they have is rails and if you want to ski normal runs don't go their. Also if your looking forward to a rope tow wild has a really big one. Haven't made it out to spirit. If you want a place that has just good skiing check welch village. Their back bowl is the best skiing in minnesota, but their park is a joke with just a few 10 foot rails.

Duluth actually has snow. But who knows... This weekend is suppose to be colder so maybe the hills will get better.

I've only skied Spirit this year but plan on being down at Afton by next week.

word, i'll be there saturday

since it's winter break I might have to make a trip down there on saturday too ;)

might bring sammyhed. if it doesn't work out, there's plenty of chances next week.

Just got back from Buck and it sucks. All fake snow so if you don't bomb you won't make it down the hill with all the mounds of it.

Most everything is struggling at the moment due to rain and warm weather. We really could use a good 12-14 inches of good snow to get ride of a the ice and provide something to work with to shape features better.

because thats different for any midwest hill?

I skied today at Hyland and Jossi and Beau James Wells were there and if its good enough for them it can't be all bad. Willie Borm too. It was just fun to see the old gang from Nybora Freestyle again. I love Hyland!

Went to troll yesterday, it was awesome! Best rail set up I have every ridden, and very fast laps. There were a few fun jumps on the big rope tow as well.
