Minneapolis is on fire right now....

There is no proof he did not resist arrest. None of the security camera footage actually shows him being taken to the ground.

And how does that justify murder?

It justifies arresting him. It seems unlikely the officers were attempting to kill him. Why would they have been so quick to call an ambulance if they wanted to kill him? Floyd's drug use plus being overweight probably contributed significantly to his death. What you can see the officer doing in the video is not something that would normally kill a person.

Also note that he was suspected of being high on drugs and sitting in the driver's seat of a car which is a DUI. So it wasn't just counterfeiting that got him arrested.

If you don't believe in genetics, that's fine, but just go out and say it so that we can agree to disagree.

I never said I don't 'believe in genetics' don't be asanine bro.

You're completely missing the nurture aspect of development which leads some short, fat, ugly dumb people to be successful and some tall, dark, handsome and intelligent people to be less so.

Without a doubt genetics play a role, but so does the environment in which people are in. You're seriously not debating that aspect, right?

A police officer had his full body weight on George Floyds neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, he wanted to kill him. The police killed him, being overweight or underweight doesnt matter when you are asphyxiated. If you think that wouldn't kill a "normal" person, please let do it to you. We can see if it kills you or not.

It doesn't matter why he was being arrested. He could have been wanted for murder for all I care. Nobody should die while being arrested unless they are putting others lives at risk. Why did the officer feel the need to push his knee in George's neck anyways? He was already cuffed, just had to put him in the car and go.

They're not equal; that was the whole point. The same way short people birth short kids, stupid people birth stupid kids. The primary reason poor kids don't often get out of poverty is because they are stupid just like their parents. If you believe in evolution, this shouldn't even be controversial. Even if society were perfectly fair, poor kids would still be less likely to succeed because they are more likely to inherit bad genes from their parents.

If it's impossible for poor people to pull themselves out of poverty, how did Jeff Bezos do it? And not only did he pull himself out of poverty, he made himself the richest man in the world.

Yup. Way to make the most tired and pretty racist argument. Fairly douchey. If you're just trolling just as douchey.

You're right, I highly doubt the police had enough evidence to know he was acting with criminal intent when he paid with a fake bill. He was probably just arrested for the DUI.

Then what is your explanation for the NBA being majority black?

Black people are twice as likely to play youth basketball as white people but six times as likely to make an NBA roster. How do you explain that? Do you think the NBA is just racist against white people?

Yeah nothing in this thread, your posts, or what's going on mentions anything about race.

Even beyond that the same with poverty. A rich guy was poor once, all schools are great, everyone needs to stop being lazy and become rich.

You're putting words in my mouth. I never said all schools are great.

Wealth is relative; it's literally not possible for everybody to become rich because the poorest segment of society would still be considered poor. However, if you have the motivation to become rich, it's not impossible. It certainly will require you to not be lazy though which is why most people don't do it.

Also, the fact that you responded to a question asking how my posts are racist and didn't even attempt to answer the question is proof enough for me that I haven't said anything racist.

Blackout Tuesday is the laziest form of activism I have ever seen. It infuriates me when I see people that have not posted anything about the race riots posting these black squares that somehow shows their ‘fight against racism’ and then I go look at their story and they are skiing/hiking/doing white people things, With clearly no real care for the matter. People are clearly jumping on the bandwagon in fear of being looked at as ‘not caring’ or ‘racist’.

If you are going to post something to support, at least make it about donating/videos of the riots to show the extent to the rest of the world. Not just a black fucking square.

Go go out in the streets, go support black owned business, donate to bail bonds, go show your support.

Going to go ahead and make another prediction here.

After speaking with my uncle who grew up and lived in NYC during the 60's and 70's (when the city was an absolute shit hole) he had some interesting things to say on the current state of events. When he was a teenager riots happened all the time and crime was out of control. Eventually anyone with a job/ producing left NYC because they got tired of living in constant fear. The subway was insanely dangerous and large portions of the city were burned and deduced to rebel. Walking in Times Square after dark was very dangerous and it wasn't surprising if you were robbed. He said 30% of people just got up and left in a lot of boroughs around the city.

After the coronavirus catastrophe that happened due to Cuomo and De Blasio's genius leadership. Aka putting old folks sick with coronavirus back into nursing homes and leading to the deaths of thousands more. Along with De Blasio's now botched attempt at calming the riots people are going to get the fuck out of NYC. The cities going to turn into a shit hole again. De Blasio first said the city wasn't going to be put on curfew, people rioted and every shop in soho was looted. Then he said they don't need the national guard but the city can go on a curfew at 11pm. Last night more rioting in the streets and the national guard was needed. FINALLY Cuomo told him today he's sending in the national guard today and the curfew is now 8 pm.

So I asked my uncle, who cleaned up the streets of NYC? Why is it now a relatively safe place to be? He laughed and said Rudy Giuliani. So people remember you are watching democrat mayors let their cities burn because they refuse to seek help from the national guard/ instill peace. When they fail to do so the people who keep the city nice pack up and get the fuck out. Therefore NYC is on a fast track to hell yet again.

Not the point I'm making.

Blackout Tuesday Organizers - "a day to disconnect from work and reconnect with our community" through "an urgent step of action to provoke accountability and change"

Not "wake up and post a picture of nothing to give you self validation that you care and then not think about it the rest of the day".

Even if you post the black pic and you still go about your daily life today, is it so hard to go one day without trying to stroke your own ego by posting about yourself after you have seemingly just made a statement vowing to dedicate the whole day to "provoking accountability and change"?

Same reason that on Memorial Day the people that actually give a shit about veterans will spend the whole day dedicated to doing things that support veterans. The people that don't will drink a 24 of bud heavy and enjoy the long weekend without even giving it a thought. Which is fine, at least they are not trying to be false.

Research around this idea, AKA the ‘broken windows’ theory of policing, which ultimately evolved into ‘stop and frisk’, shows that what you’re talking about had a small impact in reducing crime but was by no means solely responsible for the large drop NYC saw.

Crime is pretty closely linked to poverty, though, so anything that alleviates that (The New Deal would be an easy place to start from) would help. De-criminalizing sex work, drug use, and homelessness would also reduce crime considerably (in addition to the obvious decrease due to fewer possible offenses existing) - all have been tried to various degrees in other countries with some success. I don’t think I get much meaningful engagement, but I’ll do the work and provide the receipts for all this if people care.

Abortionator claimed that I thought everybody could be rich if they just worked hard enough, and then I explained that can't be my opinion because it's literally not possible for everybody to be rich. It's amazing how every liberal in this thread is only capable of arguing with me if they put words in my mouth.

Civil rights and basic social services already exist (food stamps, social security, medicare, medicaid, etc). Equity doesn't really exist because universities are legally allowed to discriminate against white and asian kids, but I get the feeling that's not what you're complaining about. So what exactly is it that you want? Don't say you want white people to stop killing black people because I've already proven that isn't happening any more often than black people kill white people.

It just seems like you are trying to justify the actions of the officer and downplay the severity of what happened. If a suspect is compliant is it necessary to kneel directly of their neck (not proper technique or procedure btw) for close to 10 minutes? Especially when the suspect is claiming they can’t breath? And is handcuffed? And is outnumbered 4 to 1?

Hopefully we can agree that that was incompetent policing on multiple levels.

There's no doubt in my mind it was incompetent policing. Which is why the cop was fired.

Why protesting continues to this day is beyond me; the protesters have already achieved their objective. It seems now they're just hoping to get in fights with the police.

So saying "all poor people are intellectually inferior", and it being common knowledge that black people are disproportionately more poor than any other race in America/the world, makes it racist.

So saying "all poor people are intellectually inferior", and it being common knowledge that black people are disproportionately more poor than any other race in America/the world, makes it racist.

Being intellectually inferior has everything to do with being poor. That's why people with professional degrees make 56% more than people with only bachelor's degrees, and why people with bachelor's degrees make 64% more than people with only high school diplomas, and why people with high school diplomas make 37% more than people without them [citation]. The correlation between education level and income is extremely strong.

I never said all poor people are intellectually inferior so I don't know why you put that in quotes. In fact if you read the thread, I agree with somebody who says the opposite.

"it being common knowledge that black people are disproportionately more poor than any other race in America/the world, makes it racist" - So I take it from this statement that you also think the NBA is racist against white people? If not, how do you reconcile the fact that white people make up 70% of the US population but only 23% of the NBA?

Are you actually serious? Do you believe there is no systemic racism that exists in the United States? Do you believe that police brutality is not an issue currently? Do you believe that the existing system is completely fine and things should go on business as usual?

If you answered yes to any of the above you truly are so out of touch with the reality other people live through. They are sick and tired of the status quo that perpetuates violence and exploitation. People want change. That's all there is to it.

There is systemic racism. It mostly affects whites and asians, but that's not what the protesters care about.

Police brutality is a problem as well. If you've been on a twitter recently, you've probably seen dozens of videos of police officers being hit with bricks, dragged across roads, and run over by cars. This sort of brutality needs to end. Unfortunately, it's the protesters who are perpetrating most of this brutality.

The existing system is mostly fine. We need to arrest and prosecute all the criminals attacking cops, vandalizing public property, and robbing businesses, but other than that, yes we should continue on as usual.
