If my employed didn't have to pay minimum wage, I'm positive he could find people to work just as hard for half the current minimum wage. I

or are you saying that the market would drive wages down to the point that we would all be making 30 cents a day?

Try less than 4, horrible housing and a 20 minute drive to the nearest grocery store and the fact that nothing is guaranteed because your illegal and the farmer you work for has no soul.

I wasn't asking woozy a question as if I didn't know. I wanted to see what his opinion on it was, which he revealed and I was prepared with a rebuttal.

You have a skewed view as to why immigrants work for what they do.

Just because $4.00/hr in america is better than Whatever/hr in mexico doesn't make it ok for immigrants to hoe beats 13 hrs a day and make next to nothing.

they're illegal immigrants, therefore they don't have the same rights as american citizens. employers can pay them whatever they want.
 
Ok Im not sure if we are arguing the same thing here.

My arguement: Immigrants should not get the wages they do, It is wrong that immigrants get paid what they do, Gov. needs to figure some shit out so that immigrants do not get paid the wages they do.

hey guys. it seems the problem is the government you know cause theyre the ones that make policies that force people into jobs then punish them for having them and all that so it would kind of make sense to say that things would be a bit more smooth without any government interference at all. that way "illegal immigrants" would be "people who moved" and they could "legally" get jobs and get money in equal value to the services they provide.

off topic question because im interested. what parts of the government would you keep around if asked to redesign it. your design can range from complete totalitarianism and beyond to no government at all. what do you believe government is good for?
 
Probably not but I will give it a go.

It sets a standard for what work is worth. "minimum" should be what the lowest demanding job is worth. Do I have that much right?

So LEGAL immigrants are getting paid $7.50/hr for physically demanding jobs? Thats the only problem I can see.

so what is the productivity per hour for someone picking apples, or hoeing beats? How do you measure what that type of work is worth? Do you just analyze what each apple is worth? What about how physically demanding it is? That seems more like a judgement call.

And one more thing. Say we eliminate minimum wage but put in place someone who's sole responsibility is to evaluate unfairness in local wages. (not just one person obviously, but maybe a committee or some shit) I DONT KNOW IM TALKING OUT OF MY ASS haha.

Is it fair to get paid 6.00/hr to hoe beats all day and 9.00/hr to watch people hoe beats all day?

You might make a large salary doing whatever because you are smart and use your brain and your total productivity is much higher than someone who hoes beats, but could you go a full week working on a beat field? If you stopped doing your job would people be out of food?

I understand the reason laborers are paid lower because of productivity but to say sweat of the brow isn't a deciding factor in wages is dumb to me.

Maybe america just needs to focus on more important things rather than having a nice car and a large income.

But that idea won't make it much further than a mediocre book.
 
i make minimum wage, 8.67 in WA. but i get overtime, so im able to convince myself that i really get about 10 bucks an hour on average, as long as i work my life away for about 60 hours each week.
