there are no 3 CCD miniDV cameras (i believe)...if you want it to look professional, you need to get a DV camera, not miniDV. Many filmers use the Canon GL2, its a nice DV camera, well-suited to skiing. I personally have a Canon Optura Xi (miniDV), it is good for filming friends and making videos for fun, but its not professional-level.

ill be super rich and own mt.hood and let everybody from ns ski for free... except freezed

^ freezed: there are 3ccd minidv cameras, and those are the best quality u can get with minidv, the chepest one of those i think is around 1000 but im not possitive on that. this fall there are goin to be some high def shit comin out which will be slightly better quality then whats out now, if u have the cash go for the panasonic dvx-100A u can shoot that in 24p mode and tweak some other settings to get close to film quality, better then any other camera, the only problem is that if u are goin to edit in that (24P mode) u have to find a program that will support that feature (final cut pro and avid those are the only two i believe, again not possitive).

Why don't u just go suck a fuck!.....'Oh really!? Tell me how exactly does one suck a fuck???

Your such a fuck ass! 'Did you just call me a fuck ass?! lol' *little girl comes in and says* Whats a fuck ass?

There are pleny of 3ccd cameras out there. They range from about 2000 to 3000, even more with accessories and such. The Canon GL-2, Sony 170, and there are numerous Panasonic ones...I don't know the names of those, but I have seen the quality of Jonny Decesare's and it is really nice. It is an investment to buy and to learn

miniDV and DV are the same thing first off all. just some people just drop the mini part when they are talking the lingo. it really depends on what your budget is and what you want to do with it. anything from $500 for a pretty compact camera that you can throw in your backpack and do easy park shots and stuff to like the higherend miniDV cameras like the GL2, PD-170, VX2100,Canon XL-2. panasonic has quite a good line up of 3 chip cameras in their DVproline series that are worth checking out. go to www.bhphoto.com to do research on em all.

i think im looking at 500 to 1000, but closer to 500 for now...depending on income, that may change...

thanks for the help though
