Mini Ice Age !!

i found out that there was a mini ice age that ended in the 1850s. As a skier I was stoked to hear about this. imagine if we had a mini ice age, we could be skiing all year long even in freakin florida :O I want an other ice age like that!

when they say mini ice age they mean mini. The worlds average temperature dropped only a few degrees, not enough to ski in florida or all year round.

that would be really bad. gas prices would skyrocket because the demand would be so high for heating and shit, most of the crops would die, leaving us to rely on hydroponics labs that grow food indoors (very limited)... shit would just terribly wrong

if a mini ice age set in and it started snowing in florida the last thing you would be thinking about would be skiing. more like finding ammunition for your assault rifle to steal food from your neighbors in the post hegemonic collapse conflict stricken ice wasteland that north America would become

jeeeez don't be such a debbie downer blake..move to florida and shred ill handrails!!!!!!!

It would be way worst than the 1800's, there weren't 6 billion people then to worry about, there would be massive migrations of people, massive shortages of food, fighting over land disputes trying to keep refugees out, much like what would happen if the oceans were to actually rise another 20ft

I was watching the discovery channel a few years ago and they said there is a chance a mini ice age will happen in the next 100 years. They said some percentage of it happening but I have completely forgot what it was, it was something small though.

technically we are still in an ice age

from wiki - "An ice age is a period of long-term reduction in the temperature of the Earth's surface and atmosphere, resulting in an expansion of continental ice sheets, polar ice sheets and alpine glaciers. Glaciologically, ice age

is often used to mean a period of ice sheets in the northern and

southern hemispheres; by this definition we are still in an ice age

(because the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets still exist). More colloquially, when speaking of the last few million years, ice age is used to refer to colder periods with extensive ice sheets over the North American and Eurasian continents: in this sense, the most recent ice age peaked about 11,000 years ago. This article will use the term ice age in the former, glaciological, sense: glacials for colder periods during ice ages and interglacials for the warmer periods."

Ya right. I live in florida and an ice age may take the temp down form 110 to 100 not close to snow though..

If we go into a full global warming then apparently Great Britain area would go into a mini ice age and stay like that until global warming is over.

There was the year without a summer that was created by the volcano tambora in indonesia in the mid-late 19th century.

We could see a mini ice age very soon since there are no sunspots on the sun and the number of sunspots on the sun is directly related to global temperatures.

lol it would be so funny seeing all the english fleeing from the cold and all the skiers immigrating with a big smile on their face :P

Dude, there are laser cats.

yeah the mini ice age was actually during the revolutionary war so the soldiers all fought in it with like barley any clothes so it was defiantly a mini ice age

Ya but it did get much colder in some places. The Thames River in London used to freeze over for the winter. Don't see that today.
