It's true that sometimes you just Have to guess right? Or is there some crazy way you can figure it out no matter what? Cause sometimes in expert I just have to take a guess, but luckily, I am usually guessing right.

yeah sweet game, i was addicted for a time... back when i worked for the government i had a lot of time on my hands. 7 seconds for beginner, and right around 60 for intermediate, never beat the expert, just past my patience limit.

i've played minesweeper for hours at a time. my best times are 4 on beginner 40 on intermediate and 130 on expert.

you play by clicking on the squares! oh ok, more explaination than that:

You can uncover a square by clicking it. If you uncover a mine, you lose the game. If a number appears on a square, it indicates how many mines are in the eight squares that surround the numbered one. To mark a square you suspect contains a mine, right-click it.

The object of Minesweeper is to locate all the mines as quickly as possible without uncovering any of them. If you uncover a mine, you lose the game.

If you are uncertain about a square, right-click it twice to mark it with a question mark (?). Later, you can either mark the square as a mine or remove the markings by right-clicking the square again once or twice.

If you have marked all the mines around a numbered square, you can uncover the remaining squares around it by clicking the numbered square with the left and right mouse buttons simultaneously. If not all mines surrounding the numbered square have been marked, the remaining covered or unmarked squares will appear to be depressed (or flash) when the numbered square is clicked with both buttons simultaneously.

Look for common patterns in numbers, which often indicate a corresponding pattern of mines. For example, the pattern 2-3-2 at the edge of a group of uncovered squares indicates a row of three mines next to the three numbers.

There are some cheats for minesweeper. You can activate a little thing that gives u a visual indicator of mines whenever your mouse is over a mine. You can hack the clock so that it never increase, and you can edit the system file that shows best times.

to answer a question that was posted way above, there are times in Minesweeper when you HAVE TO guess. It's usually a 50-50 type of guess but I think there are others where you have to guess to advance the game... this is not too common though, there's usually some other area where you can go and work without guessing and it may come back to the place where you thought you would have to guess to advance...

Has anyone ever seen the number 8? I have and it's like purple or some colour like that. I only once saw it on Expert but a lot of times when I play on custom settings...

yeah, in expert there are usually several 50-50 guesses. you can increase your chances in these but figuring out patterns, but that only works sometimes.

Right now my best times say 8, 41, and 999, but I think before it was 4, 39, and 150. I suck at expert, finish it maybe one in 40 tries.

9 for begginer-55for intermidieate-165 for expert but 7 and 115 thats pimp shit...this thread is awesome i play it all day at schoool while im on ns!!
