hahahaha...i got it RIGHT, its 4100, what i did was, i added the smaller numbers first, then the big numbers

i guess the big thing is if that was on a test, it wouldn't have the title MIND TEST, so you would be pretty unsuspecting.

Yea I finally got what I was doing wrong. When you do it in your head, you turn those 10s into 100s and because the smaller numbers add up to 100 and you add each number in your head as a 100, it makes it seem like its another 1000. Man that was a really complicated explanation but props if you get what im saying.

i don't see a possible way it could be any different. unless the "and another" doesn't qualify as technically "adding" then it would be 4000.

yea i realize how i got 5000, the smaller number add up to 100, not one thousand... its really linguistics that makes it seem like a thousand cuz in your head you are saying : one thousand 40 instead of one thouasand -zero- four- zero
