Milly Meltdown @ Brighton

Milly lift open daily in May with a full park for $129. Spring park until Memorial Day for half the price of a day pass at most resorts? Sign me the fuck up.

Shoutout Brighton for being for the culture. I barely ski park anymore but you can catch me getting rails back all month. If you’re in Utah, go buy a May pass and support a resort that’s making the most of this historic snowpack

Once upon a time the timberline spring pass used to be $99 for 2.5 months of riding. Spring at Brighton sounds delightful though, haven’t skied there since I left salt lake years ago.

Hopefully this keeps heads out of hood. There were so many people at Timberline last may

I kind of hope these big springs>summers at some mtns make Tline change some things. Tline is cool but they def run off the "where else are you gonna go" sometimes. Good to see some competition this year.

YES. For a second I thought I was misremembering but they were

How so… the spring pass price increase in the past decade? I’m just curious, last spring was my first time there and from what I could gather from it they seem to care about the locals more so than the corporate owners like alterra and vail do.

also I feel like you might be able to answer this for me… but why on earth do they close so damn early? Like cmon riding for 4 hours bc norms shuts off at 230 is some annoying ass shit. Would be so much cooler if they were open til 4 or 5 at least.

I mean "cooler than vail or alterra" is one place to start. Idk. They could do a lot better I'll just say that. They can be pretty complacent whether jibs, not wanting to build new ones, types of snow features. Even in the winter not having a park at the beginning of the season.

For a mtn that prides itself on being the park spot they don't seem to try that hard sometimes. People will come regardless.

Setups can be pretty sick still. Way things are run, not so much sometimes.

It's a temp/snow thing. A lot of mtns close early in the late season even. On steeper terrain it can be an avy hazard. At tline it jist gets so damn sticky a lot of times because of the summer heat. The difference between noon and 2 can be huge even. I'm a big fan of late afternoon so I feel you but I think that's pretty reasonable. At least in the summer for sure.

Yeah I can get it if it’s hot / summertime and obviously the avy thing.

and good points, good to see it from another way. I will say I was honestly expecting a little more out of the setup last May. Don’t get me wrong is was incredibly fun I just thought it was gonna be better. Especially with cutting the park off hundreds of yards before you’re even near the chair again. Would be so sick if they stacked shit all the way down near the bottom of norms lift.

They used to put their largest rail features at the bottom of the flow park (which they didnt build last year) and you could cut over to it if you skipped the last rail or two in conways. It was super sick and right below the lift but theyve gotten lazy and broken their best rails so it doesn’t happen any more

They got a couple curved rails back now. Somebody donated the bent steel and somebody went rogue and built them. But theres a nice s rail again and a couple other things.

They still dont have a ztube even do they? Trying to think of all the rails. Idk they have some good stuff for sure but they've fallen off a bit for sure especially considering themselves such a big park spot for the spring and summer.

Seems like they’ve been on their shit this year tho. From what it looks like. Been peeping the park page every now and then and it looks like they have some new rails made. As well as keepin it creative with the features. Hopefully it’ll be better than the setup we had last year for spring pass.

also will they build flow park this year? I know they didn’t last year bc they got all their snow late or something.

The lack of flow stuff was dumb. I believe theyre doing a flow park this year.

Hell last year there were 3 operators who love building flow features and they were making us doze them because they "were hard to maintain" or something when the people building and maintaining them were all about it and they were fun.

Matt Dunn from pine know being out was sick last year. I think he's at Park City atm till they close them maybe going back to hood?

Idk. They have enough hand crew, they have enough cat ops and a nice fleet of park pros. People wanna ride cool shit, people there want to build cool shit, yet a lot gets lost in bs logistics. The "plan" always seems kind of thrown together if there is a plan.

Bowly is gone probably for good. It's tits also just moved to sunshine. So tline is losing it's events too.

I'm stoked to get down there for a week or two in may. Skipping summer this year and heading to NZ though. Will def get back to hood eventually but it's sort of a shit show these days. A lot of chaos and a program held together with zip ties, hopes and dreams and the legacy they're still running off.

I believe the curved metal came from the old mini ramp cover at mhssc, both skibowl and tline got some. Tline built a cool rainbow and a new s rail, unfortunately the rainbow is busted already and the new s rail is way more mellow than the old so it’s not quite as satisfying/impressive. Skibowl built an s rail super similar to the old tline one so now they have the best s on hood (meadows is close tho).

Good call on the z rail I didnt even notice that one was gone. Its pretty wild how good they are at breaking features. Some notables are these two giant rails they used to make into a quad kink

I would have killed to hit this along with the mustache from all the iconic 2017 springs pass IG edits.

Yeah for sure. What happened to the rainbow?!?!? Thing got finished in like November? And yeah but rather have an s than a broken rail. Bent steel is the curve it is kinda.

Yeah shit breaks sometimes but being careful goes a long way. Long skinny tube dub kinks break easy and some other rails. Idk. They dont seem to like building new shit, or even replacing broken shit. The rainbow and s rail were through getting the free bent steel and slightly rogue efforts building it. Mgmt seems not into building new shit.

Idk. Is what it is. Ski bowl has been looking sick!! Wish they'd give em a full trail too sometime. I wanted to make it down but didn't pan out. How she goes

Ski bowls tow rope is super fun and Friday boards are always posting from there. Makes me want to go back

Looks like flow park is about to open. Or maybe even opened. Looking good. I wish they'd build a small temp pipe especially this year with all the snow but looks like they got a 1/4 or two and a kind of undervert pipe

Wait 129$ is half the price for a day pass at most resorts in the US? Have they always been that expensive? If yes, how do you guys afford that?

The metal on the rainbow looks fine, they just busted out one of the skirting panels and now its sitting in the pile at mollys lot waiting to be fixed.

Skibowl has been the truth for hood parks this year. They used to have a whole park run with some jumps and stuff, but it was on the other side of the mountain and was always kind of wack anyway. Its better that they dont deal with it so park crew can go off on the tow park. Operations there are way more loose so the crew have been building tons of new rails and insane setups

Behold American reading comprehension. To answer your question, $129 is about half of the day of/ walk up lift ticket price at the mega resorts in North America (ie Vail, Whistler, Palisades). $129 is probably about the average lift ticket price for ski areas out west, I think brighton is usually around $100 a day. If you ski some of the tiny ski areas in the midwest lift tickets are closer to $25. Luckily even at those mega resorts season passes are only about $750 so if you ski a decent amount it's a (relatively) good deal.

shut yo dumb ass up, you didn even say if thats a one time payment. thats why I was trying to say i think its 129 for the whole rest of the season, also I didnt even read the thread

i have a right to make an uneducated comment without your bullshit, and fuck this bullshit ass drink

I do realize I’m giving Brighton free publicity with this thread, but fuck it man they deserve it for staying open so late, even though it’s probably an economically risky proposition. They’re a business first, and if this post helps encourage them to be cool more often or convinces anyone to buy a May pass & support then it’s worth

never skied tline but this thread is making me wanna check it out

We’re derailing this thread like we did the Lesh one.

Guys did you know you used to be able to get a T-line spring pass for $99??
