and they showed like the moment of the day as schlopy's run but said it was nick geopper, i dont think espn really gives a fuck about skiing, just the money involved in backing the x games.
 
He is a fucking embarrassment to skiing. Everything he says is so gay, he has no fucking idea about modern skiing and obviously doesn't show even the slightest effort of learning. He called Jossi's rodeo 5 a cork 5, called dub 16's dub 12's. He is a fucking idiot. I acknowledge he has done a lot for the sport but he has to move on from the commentary gig.

during big air..jossi throws a rodeo 5..announcer says cork 5..that was imo one of the worst announcer fails maybe the worst
 
What do you expect from him, not to be human and never make a mistake? Chill the fuck out, I'd like to see you all do better. The job is harder than you think. Yeah LVV would be a great announcer but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be flawless either.
 
during schlopy's slopestyle run the last hit was a dub 16 but he called a 14. made it even worse- the announcer on course said dub 16, but the commentator "corrected" him even after watching the replay.

I can find a video of LVV fucking up once too. Every single announcer makes a mistake once in a while. Is it really that big of a deal that he called a 270 a 450?
 
i lost it at this and when he called switch ups change ups. I also started screaming at the tv when (i think it was hatveit) did a 4 off and he called it a 2.

Also at the beginning when he was riding nick geoppers dick on the rails. they were nice but not unbelievable. he also made a pretzel sound amazing.... dude sucks
 
I realized that too. I also hate when some one falls or fucks up and a ski pops of and they have to explain why the bindings come off. And last year I remember a brake that was sticky and the spent 15 min explaining that the brakes stop the ski and again why it comes off in the first place *facepalm*
 
Do you idiots have any idea how hard it is to call play by play on something that happens so quick? Most other "Modern" skiers would be dumb stuttering pricks in the same situation.

Mike Douglas would still ski the faces off most the guys whose balls you swing from.
 
yea i couldn't agree more why doesn't espn just hire someone who actually know what they're talking about it just bugs me i heard mike douglas call a dub cork 10 a double cork rodeo 10 las tnight
 
Yeah, but if there was one thing he got right 100% of the time, it was calling double d-spins.

3 runs, he called the 270 out a 450 3 times.

once=mistake

twice=confused

3 times= hire someone else

 
Be careful who you talk shit about. Douglas may slip up once in a while, but it's fucking MIKE DOUGLAS. Him miscalling a trick is like Shaun White dragging a hand: no one cares.

Uncle E, on the other hand, needs to get the fuck out.
 
I think you all need to take stock for a minute. Yeah there were discrepancies in the calling of the tricks but if you know what the trick was does it really matter? The judges know what the trick was. Every year there is discussion/arguement over the commentating about how its wrong and that their chat is shit, if it bothers you turn it off/down. It could be so much worse.
 
i'm pretty surprised with some of his trick names, you'd think Mike Douglas of all people would be able to call the tricks for a slopestyle run
 
Despite your acknowledgement of his contributions to the sport, you should be ashamed of yourself for saying that. Without Mike Douglas, there would be no twin tip skis, no freeskiing, and no Newschoolers. He is the reason this sport and this website exists...and if he miscalled a couple of tricks, big deal. Until you've done live commentary on an event (which is much harder than you think...trust me), you have no right to say such hateful things, especially in regards to the man who has done more for our sport than anyone else.

 
I can watch a live run and call the tricks as they land them, way before Mike can, and much more accurate.
 
I think you're the idiot here. there's really not too many different rotations in skiing, it's not fucking rocket science. Do I think I could call the tricks faster and more accurately? Yes I do, and I'm sure the majority of NS could

but I agree douglas shouldn't be announcing. it's not like he's mistaking rodeos for flatspins here, it's basic math and adding and to be honest I bet a lot of average joe park rats could do a better job than he is at it. 270s are noticeably different from 450s. it's not like he was calling dub cork 12s as dub 16s which honestly look very similar to me.

like said above, he did it 3 times. 3 times can't be mistakes. I don't know how someone could fuck up calling tricks that bad.
 
Yeah how dare him for having an opinion on how to make the biggest televised event in park skiing better in order to properly represent what we do to the largest audience of the year.

Douglas is an essential part of freeskiing history, that's without a doubt but the key word here is HISTORY. Just because he's an OG that still rips, that doesn't make him any less shitty of an announcer. If he really loves freeskiing and wants it to continue on with legitimacy, he'd hand his job over to LVV and he'd take Uncle E's spot as that guy who says something stupid or obvious every few minutes... which he's really good at already.

lots of respect for him, but there are a lot of jobs in the ski industry and commentary is not the job for him.

this kind of like if someone got a hat trick in hockey, and all 3 goals the announcer called the goals as someone elses. probably would be fired after the second goal.
 
its mostly just ridiculous tht he does it in all 3 of her runs.. i think you have to be kind of blind to make that mistake over and over.. whatever though.. we all know what the tricks are .. and the once a year xgames spectators i'm sure don't give a crap how the trick is called or if its mis-named.. they're just excited to see whirly flips or whatever

You guys are little fucking bitches and if you wanna talk about an embarrassment, look at yourselves in your whack-ass, matching-like-sheep Saga suits spending all day on rails (which rarely exist on natural terrain) and sucking on jumps (which are all over the place on REAL mountains.)

Thanks Mike D! Your videos kept me from switching to a board and forced me to learn spins at a time when if a mountain even had a park, skiers were sometimes not allowed to use it. If you mess up a call or two, live, in a judge's stand, watching many tricks on a little monitor, you're still the man!

PS to NS: If all you do is "slay" rails...Do yourself a favor and get a fucking snowboard.
