Midwest skiers > Outwest Skiers

although I loved my weekend in breck I got this year. The vibe and overall skiing community at my local hill is so much better, I pretty much started getting really into park skiing this year, and one of my first days out there literally the best skiers out there were coming up to me just to say hi and ask me if I'm planning on being out at the hill much this year, and throughout the year they taught me a lot. And that's something I feel like I can't get out at Breck or any place in the west. Maybe my hill is a special example but when you have only a handful of skiers at one hill we take any chance we can get to welcome new skiers to the hill

That's at Midwest Super Parks which is at the end of the season. That is only for one weekend. Which was cancelled this weekend. so not that great.

I do agree with this thread, but however some parks are amazing, like where I ride, Granite Peak Parks in Wausau, WI. But when you hit our iffy jumps and then go out and hit the jumps at Hood or CO like I have, we ride 10x better.

Check out these edits of us, we make do with our parks and still kill it!

that DEFINITELY is a problem with some of the big west parks, they arent personable at all because everyone is all about pushing themselves. Its probably the one thing I miss about my little midwest hill. You CAN find it outside of some of the superparks though, but I would say that people in midwest are much more stoked on trying to help people out and seeing people progress

Half of this is third-person shit. Outwest has clean snow, clean features, clean vibes, clean better-than-whateverthefuckelse. Just cause you look steezy on shit features doesn't mean youre hot shit on quality features. Nobody gives a fuck where you came from or where youre local, as long as you don't suck mad wang and fuck up everyone else's day.

wait wait wait... youre complaining about granite peak? hahahhaha, Im not saying there arent flaws up there but, damn, that park is sick as hell usually. Didnt you guys have like a seven hit line? cmon now, thats prob the most legit park in the midwest.

I welcome you to my world.

/images/flash_video_placeholder.png our park at its best...

/images/flash_video_placeholder.png our park opening day this year

/images/flash_video_placeholder.png and closing day last year... probably the worst conditions I've ever skied

not all parks are bad in the midwest chestnut has an amazing park crew and granite peak is essentially a slightly smaller breck

I never complained about Granite, I said there are some amazing ones like Granite. We had a 7, but the lift takes 20 minutes, they were anywhere from 5-20ft with rails afters. Granite is the best you can get around here, Wyatt and Bobby do amazing work with the parks. Just wish they'd change stuff up around the park.

I think Ski Gull, MN wins for worst park, I went to a comp here and the locals were going crazy cause it was the best park set up they've ever had, and there was more rails up at one time then ever before, and that most of the time there park is more like this

This is the comp video from the one I was at, a lot better than the above video, but I've seen WAY better comp set ups, even in the Minnesota

hell yeah, we go to snowstar every weekend not knowing if there will be any jumps on to the rails or if our "kickers" will even have landing. Its rough but we still have fun.

this was from one of the better weekends this year haha.

another thing that I forgot that mid-west people, or at least in my area, have to deal with, is there is slim to none comps/ rail jams, or any events that are for skiers only. It's like the few ski comps that there are out here are run by snowboard teams or companies, who act like they're doing skiers a favor by letting them be in their 'prestigious' snowboard comp. and then we're left out of all the edits of the comp and the photographers that are there maybe take one shot of half the skiers that are there. Here's another video from the same comp I posted earlier that I competed in, absolutely no skiers even shown riding in it.

Not saying this is what makes Mid-west skiers better or anything like that, it's just something really annoying that we have to deal with.

Seeing that snowboarder at the beginning try and huck that double off that little side thing was pretty hilarious, and no he wasn't hurt

b-i-n-g-o.

YO officially hijacking this thread.

Im going to throw it out there and say that midwest skiers are the worst breed of skiers out there. Yea there conditions suck or whatever, but they have minimal experience on any sort of half decent terrain. Your terrain parks apparently fucking suck. I dont care how icy it is. Being a good skier I think has almost 0 to do with the terrain park. How you turn, carve, technique, approach dificult terrain, as well as the terrain park. Im confident to say the east coast skiers are the best overall. We have the terrain to keep up with the out west crowd to a certain degree, some of the parks are amazing. We ski on just as much ice as the midwest skiers, but actually have some decently big mountains to ski on. When I was in squaw valley last year I was just as good as anyone out there. I skied every difficult run I could, Its all about learning the basic tecniques of skiing to be a good skier. Once you know how to do the basics, its just a matter of practicing on new things, ex, steep terrain for the eastcoast skier.

In conclusion, midwest skiers fucking suck. Your terrain parks blow, your mountains are patheticaly small, and as a whole, just a bunch of really shitty places

WHO THE FUCK CARES WHO RIDES BEST??????

YOU KNOW WHO CARES? GAPERS WHO TALK SHIT ON THE CHAIR LIFT.

With that said Im gonna ride tomorrow before the snows all gone while all of you dick heads keep having this cock swinging contest of videos.

Oh, I have nothing but respect for the kids slaying the crappy parks out in the midwest.

But yes, you are correct, the west coast is the best.

173 inch base at my home mountain and still growing, in April, and open till into May?

Yup.

I skied out east a few years back. Hit most of the big places there, killington, okemo, stowe etc. I felt like I was skiing in a third world country LOL. And the best skiers there, were worse than an average kid at breck. Get at me.

IM calling bullshit, there is no way in hell you were just as good as the squaw locals, I highly doubt you were skiing anything off of kt, thus making you no where near the best skier on the mountain.

yea obviously i wasn't as good as the squaw locals...but i skied kt with confidence and authority all over kt. Idk the names really of certain areas but i skied the cliff on lookers far right on the fingers, the thumb , the nose. The top of the fingers cutting skiers left down the west face. Skied the palisades, top of granite chief, all over silverado. And I didn't really have to much dificulty. WAs more of a matter of ajusting to skiing terrain that steep. I am a really good skier and have really good form techinique, etc nad its just a matter of applying this to harder terrain and ajusting. Idc what the haters say out there I ripped as hard as most people out there

I went to ski gull just that one time for that comp, probably not gonna go there for a normal day anytime soon haha! but most of the time I'm at Powder Ridge

Not disagreeing, but for the sake of arguement wallisch didn't start getting good until he moved out to Utah.

west coasters don't appreciate west coast skiing because they don't appreciate east coasters skiing on the east coast?

that's fucking retarded, don't tell other people what they feel. I live on an island more west than the west coast and I appreciate all the skiing that I get do, its not all rainbows and sunshine over here. (rainbows require that it stop raining first)

lol at "i dont really know the names of certain areas", proceed to list off a shit load of names of certain areas. Thats awesome to hear that you are a really good skier. because you posted that, everyone really believes you. really.

This thread is retarded. Who gives a fuck about which place has better skiers. Just have fun.

that being said, I feel as though small mountains have the best vibe (doesn't matter what region) because everyone knows everyone and are usually stoked to see new faces.
