Midwest Massacre IV

The Midwest Massacre started out four years ago as the foundation for all FreshTip Design events to come. It was started in order to make difference in our community. The riders who soon became FreshTip Design were sick of showing up to competitions that lacked the atmosphere of what a good comp should have. We have attended to many comps that you ride the same park as you did the day, week, or month before just to get a free t shirt and some sketchy judging. We took extreme measures to make sure this didn’t happen. Above all we poured our heart and souls into making the best out of what we had.

Our main focus has always been the park build. Our crew designs and fabricates every rail we use. There aren’t any parks in the Midwest that has rails big enough to raise the bar to that next level. Our parks are designed by our crew, as well as some key riders to make sure we are giving the elite riders a challenge. This year we will be starting the run with a ten to twenty foot acid drop, which will lead into a choice of a 40’ or 55’ booter, into a choice of two rails, and finish with a choice of 5 down rails at the end. We are looking to push the riders to get their stoke on. Year four promises to be the most diverse park we have built to this point.

Judging is one big problem we see in a lot of comps. FreshTip Design has always put great concern into this. The Massacre always has and always will be Professionally Judged. Erik and Bjorn Lienes, Matt Sterbenz, and a few of their friend have always been around to help out with judging. By having the riders judged by the professionals they look up to helps sets the atmosphere for the Massacre.

The Massacre has and always will be one of the few comps in the Midwest that gives out cash! The riders in Massacre do not need boards or bindings. For the most part they already have sponsors, and free boards hurt the Midwest shops sales. For these reasons we have always awarded sizable cash purses. Many riders that tend to move out west stay around a little longer just to take their chances at that purse before they head out for the season. In three years we have dished out more than $10,000 back to the riders!

FreshTip Design has really set up aggressive marketing campaign for year four. We will be doing our usual flyers and website. Companies and shops that hop on board will have links on the site. For the first time riders will be able to pre-register online. This year’s field will be limited to 300 riders. There will be 200 snowboarders and 100 skiers. Due to the format we cannot exceed these numbers. We also have a large Internet following of riders that will receive info periodically. FreshTip Design has teamed up with VP interactive to offer text messaging to all registered riders. Several magazines will be covering the event. Stuck has confirmed a preview story as well as a recap. Our riders will also be pushing the event all year long. Also, lets not forget about the helicopter that will be circling around all weekend to get some key shots, that’s right FreshTip is still rolling with helicopters!

The format this year is sure to raise some eyebrows. In the past we have separated the snowboarders and skiers by having separate days for the competitions. This year we will be combining the two in order to bring a little more drama to the event. Friday will be set for qualifying; the riders will be cut at the end of the day. There will be an after party downtown Friday night. On Saturday the top 75 snowboarders and 30 skier’s will return to battle for some cold hard cash.

The after-party is in the works as we speak. There are two locations we will be looking at. The prime one of the two would be able to host an indoor urban rail jam. The pros that are in town for massacre as well as a few freshtip riders will be invited to this session. The bottom floor will be reserved for riders over 21 and sponsors only. There will be a dress code, red carpet, and handrails, and some secret musical guests. The massacre after party is sure to help take the Massacre to the next level.

With all this in store for the MIDWEST MASSACRE 4 the costs really start to add up so we will be looking for sponsors. The event cannot have any conflicting sponsors, i.e. one snowboard company, one boot, one binging, one goggle ect. The sponsorship deadline to make the flyer is November 3rd, 2006. If you are interested please email freshftd@gmail.com or call Doug at 763-238-3421. I would like to thank all of our sponsors that have helped the Massacre to get to year four! We at FreshTip Design appreciate the support and look forward to the future.

You is welcome for this...
