have you all forgotten about noah's ark? and that they won't sell babe ruth inside city limits there? noah's ark is the greatest thing about the midwest

i dont care if you guys hate on the midwest ski conditions but dont hate on the mall of america.

I was at the mall of america like 20 minutes ago, but yea i heard Buck Hill is opening tommarow with 15 buck lift tickets. Kind of pricy for one run with a 250 ft vertical.

thats another reaon why the midwest sucks....no verticle.

yeah there isnt any vert at all but we do with what we got. midwest has pproduced some pretty well known pros

hey I dont want you guys to get me wrong....im not ripping on the midwest. I mean after all I live here. So then I would be ripping on myself. Im just voiceing my dissapointment with the low slung mountains and the lack of snow.

'we suck. But, if you can learn to ski on this shitty snow you can rip out west.'

bull-fucking-shit. skiing outwest is way more tiring. the runs are so short in wisconsin and michigan that you get to the bottem before you get a chance to get tired.

true that mommy. the longest run in mn is like a mile long at spirit. i doubt it is even that long

Ya michigan does suck for winters...but i hear that the winter is supposed to be really bad this year, all i got is a little place called bittersweet to ski, kinda blows

everyly = midwest

everly = the best thing ready to bust out this winter

im a bad man and i dont give a damn

Not all of michigan sucks. But, I'm not saying it's great either. Way up the tip of 'da u.p.' there's a Mt. Bohemia which kicks ass, but only if it's a good winter. First day I went there they brought us up on a groomer and the snow on the main runs was waist deep. There's some pretty gnar cliffs too in the 'extreme backcountry'. Worth the drive but only if conditions are in their prime. If not, Mt. Ripley is close and last year there was 3 tables, 1 60 ft. hip/table, and a 65 ft. step down. Great hill considering it's size...we make the best of what we got...lots of urban skiing gets done in between.

I dont know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Northern Michigan (upper penninsula) is alot differnt from michigan and the midwest, up here annual snowfall is around 300+ inches and a typical season lasts from mid-november thru mid-april (that's alot longer then some western resorts)

two years ago i was skiing lift access at ski brule on October 30th (opening day), then hiking the halfpipe, tables and rails at marquette til mid May, that's over 6 months of skiing in the midwest.

my point is this: the majority of the midwest sucks, but there are places up north here in michigan where it is BAREABLE. and i think everyone who lives here will pretty much agree with me.

wisconsin sucks, right now im 45 min away from cascades. anyone know what thats like?

yeah cuz im in the same boat...ive got my season pass, my twins all set to go, yet I drive to college get out of my car and walk to class and it rains...im like WTF!! im soo pissed right now. If it was just 10 degrees or so colder that would be snow and I would be ditching to go ski.

Northern MI gets the job done. Between hitting Mt. Bohemia's 900ft of vert( www.mtbohemia.com ) every month or so and Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands inbetween its not bad at all. Out west is better, but it always seems busy on their slopes.. well atleast every time I've been out there and its not like its prime time holidays either.

You guys are stupid. Midwest is great. When you get the chance to ski other areas, you appreciate it so much. People that really love to ski, come from the midwest. Skied in downpours? Check. Skied on manmade snow and real ice all year? (Real ice...not the 'ice' people talk about out west.) Check. Skied when it was -50 out and you can only take 3 runs at a time? Check.

Fun is what you make of it. I loved growing up there and skiing where I did. You obviously don't know how to make fun for yourselves if you are just bithcing about it.

Ah well, to each their own. A few big names in our industry hail from the Midwest: Seth Morrison (lived in Madison), Jeremy Nobis (Born in Madison), Brant Moles (Playboy Club), Matt Sterbenz (Wilmont, WI), Iberg is from the Twin Cities, the infamous Alex Applegate, CP and the MWAS from Cascade, WI, Boyd Easly, Greg Tufflemire and Omar Otte are from Michigan, as is Gordy Pheifer. Even Ashley Battersby grew up in Chicago. Nick Mercon also grew up nearby in Valpraiso, Indiana. I'm done ranting, accept where you are and enjoy it. Life is more fun that way.

^I agree lots of good skiers came from the midwest...and skiing our hills does make you enjoy the west that much more. But at the same time...it sucks when everyone else is skiing except for us. And lets face it...400ft of verticle or a few thousand? I think thats a pretty easy decision. I am accepting the fact that I live here, for now. But that doesnt mean that I want to stay. The only reason why im bitching is because its 50 degrees out there and raining.

upper michigans cool...if you want to marry you sister. no jk. just some of the truck stops up there.... anyways midwest- yeah its sucks, but dont be hatin cause like its all boarders out here so representing here is alot harder. its like wearing a doo rag and having a car with spinners in the hamptons. its hard to represent when your out of place. but we try on what we have.
