midwest extremes

they went allrite, weather conditions went from 35 and sunny in the morning, to a blizzard by this afternoon (over 12 inches of snow dropped since 4pm today), due to the incliment (sp?) weather the big air was moved to the very large quarter pipe, the open class results are as follows

rail jam:

1) henry friend

2) steve shelby

3) ben anderson

slopestyle:

1) steve shelby

2) joey russan

3) ben anderson

as far as a write up goes im not too sure

i like to play poggs

if its unnatural its dirty

correction:

Slope-

1st) steve shelby

2nd) joey russan

3rd) tie between ben anderson and jason miller

skiing sucks

Correction:

There was nothing 'extreme' about the midwest 'extremes' so lets not call the contest that anymore. And Mike...I totally won 3rd......didn't you hear how loud my aplause was?? compared to Jason's??!!?? (Ties were split up by crowd applause at the awards)

No one came to this event, which sucked because there was 7 people in the open class.........yeah 7. I got scored the same when I did a 360 casack as when I did a rodeo Five safety grab. (I was under the assumption that a rodeo with a grab is a more score-able trick than a 360 with a spread eagle)

There wasn't a big air competition and yet there was no money for us to get our money back. If there wasn't a big air wouldn't there be prize money left over to pay back the contestants?

Everyone worked real hard to get the terrain park in awesome shape and yet the contest flopped overall. Thats what I thought at least.

i would have liked to have come but im not that great, never competed, and for a 12 hour drive i could go to vermont.

the 3 casack was sweet though

I fell that Ben Anderson thuroughly got the shaft at the midwest extremeless, he got screwed in the rail jam, and then had probably the most technical run of anyone in the slopestyle comp. I fell that ben should have won the slopestyle comp. or atleast should have beat me. I was riding injured and didn't throw down at all!!!! and i got first. And at the hootenany, Ben got screwed at that comp as well.

I sketched out a switch cork nine, and barely landed it, but the judges couldn't see the landings, so I advanced, when ben stuck his run.

I think that Ben has the right to be pissed off about this competition season.

peace,

Shelby

but hey there still is atleast two comps left, so lets see what happens there.

Thanks Shelby, Its all good though. I just wish it didn't cost 50 bucks to enter such a contest. I want to hear some praise for the park guys who were out all night busting their humps to get everything set up. Our rails are awesome now!

yeah yeah so you thought the contest sucked, so do something about it. if we had more than 7 conpetitors on the open class we might actually have some competition/more entry fee money to give away.

Can't do shit about it. Nobody repects Marquette, becuase we are too far to drive, well screw them, the sickest park is right outside my back door and I/m gonna go ride it finally.

You want a comp to be so swett and go sooooo, smooth, give a a paid staff and a RED BULL sponsor and then maybe I can be as cool as a Midwest skier open, until then it what I could, sorry if it wasn't up to your expectations.

-BMC-

Marquette Mountian is the best Park in the midwest! Doubt me? Try us I Double dare you

i hate contests. i would much rather have a big session on a sunny day with a bunch of people and have them push eachother to learn new tricks. these are just my thoughts and people have varying opinions. chances are im just bitter about contests because i completely screwed up the last one i was in. however i think that with the session idea EVERYONE would feel good about their time spent in the end.

Midwest skier open sucked to. Its hard to do something for everyone because at least one person will bitch about it. Come up to the Midwest superpark at Marquette mountain if you want to forget your worries and have a good time without being in a contest. I am sorry I have bitched about it as much as I have.

I just wanted my money back for the contest that we all paid for but couldn't compete in. Isn't that good business on Marquette Mountain's part? Now I know that because we are local and at the hill everyday Managerial staff at Marquette Mountain doesn't have to respect us at all but what about the kid that came from downstate or the little guys that registered? They deserve good treatment or they will not come back to ski anymore at Marquette. Especially if their parents were disgruntled. Now you know I will be there everyday no matter what so maybe marquette can screw me and others over a little (its happened in the past) but people are getting sick of it. I am homies with all the people in the rental shop (you know who you are) and our friendship will go on, no questions asked. But if Marquette Mountain doesn't start respecting the people that matter (Steve stu brandon the michigan militia etc) they are in for a a world of economic hurt. We have built a reputation straight from word of mouth and some good sessions in the terrain park and it would be simple to start telling people that they shouldn't come to marquette.

I have gone off on a big tangent but some things have been brewing between me and 'higher up's' at marquette mountain, (not you BMC, we're cool) I just though I would let you guys know that our terrain park rules the house but we still get no respect from marquette mountian managers. They still think terrain parks are a fad. Even after we have appeared in major magazines twice just this year! Get a clue Marquette Mountain, our style of skiing is where the money is, support us!

ok I'm done

ben has a point, but i still cant make the drive this season.
