i'm looking into purchasing one soon and would love some advice.. i really don't know much about them...i was looking at the akai 24 mpd .. looks legit for the price
you need software for the midi controller to work. so if you want suggestions on what controller to buy, you gotta say what you are using on the software end of things, and what your goals are.
Im looking to do the same, Im interested in making remixes like hathbanger (andrew hathoway). I have a macbook pro now and thinking about either abelton or logic pro any help there too?
I have an m-audio axiom 25. I recommend it if you're just starting out. Its a good platform for a beginner, but it is also a quality product and has a lot of nice features. The keyboard is great if you're going to be doing a lot of sampling and original production, and it also has 8 assignable trigger pads.
the MPD is a solid controller but a lot of people have sensitivity issues with it like you have to bang on it pretty hard to get a sound even when you mess with the sensitivity settings. There is a fix though, you take off the front and put a wad of tape over the pads. (hard to explain, its on youtube)
If you want knobs and sliders, get the MPDIf you want better pads get the Korg PADkontrol. I have it and love it
