does anyone have any experience with them ?

i'm looking into purchasing one soon and would love some advice.. i really don't know much about them...i was looking at the akai 24 mpd .. looks legit for the price

you need software for the midi controller to work. so if you want suggestions on what controller to buy, you gotta say what you are using on the software end of things, and what your goals are.

Im looking to do the same, Im interested in making remixes like hathbanger (andrew hathoway). I have a macbook pro now and thinking about either abelton or logic pro any help there too?

I have an m-audio axiom 25. I recommend it if you're just starting out. Its a good platform for a beginner, but it is also a quality product and has a lot of nice features. The keyboard is great if you're going to be doing a lot of sampling and original production, and it also has 8 assignable trigger pads.

I'd say he shouldn't. Why spend over a grand in something you don't even know if you like yet?

the MPD is a solid controller but a lot of people have sensitivity issues with it like you have to bang on it pretty hard to get a sound even when you mess with the sensitivity settings. There is a fix though, you take off the front and put a wad of tape over the pads. (hard to explain, its on youtube)
If you want knobs and sliders, get the MPDIf you want better pads get the Korg PADkontrol. I have it and love it

I have an x-sessions pro as a mixer for my laptop. if your going for live mixing just to mess with, its great

I've just started mixing/making beats, and i need to buy myself a midi controller.

I think I should buy one for mixing first, since I seem to enjoy that more. Any suggestions? Dubstep, house, drum and bass mostly.

I wanted to get back into dj style mixing after a bit of a hiatus. If

you want to do simple remixes you may want to look at traktor or

serato. To go a bit more advanced ableton may be better. As for midi

controllers if you want an mpc style pad check out the native maschine

as seen below or the m-audio (i think) trigger finger. Personally I

would look more towards a vci100 /vci 300 from vestax and just work the

hot cues. Check out these videos..

Hyperlink and embed no worky for some reason?

check all ean golden videos (djtechtools.com) for more info. Maybe look on harmonycentral.com and synthopedia.com too

I definitely like this idea. Having just the mpd24 would make it pretty difficult to make and mix music unless you really know your way around a DAW.
