so I'm thinking about planing a trip to see the soul land of park skiing the mid west, instead of a trip out west as i spent most of this season out there. of course this will be next year. i may take up to 2 weeks and travel around to a few deferent resorts. what are some good ones i need to stop by. also I'm starting my travels from NC so anywhere that closer to the east coast then west is better.

Hyland Ski and Snowboard Area, my home mtn. That pencil rail will be your favorite rail in the park, maybe even on your trip.

Canonsburg? Sunburst? Trollhaugen? I think all of them have that feature.

Hyland is the only one with the pencil rail, althought the rails at trollhaugen are he best in the region imo

If Ohio counts, then BMBW and Snowtrails.

Are you high? Those are the worst two options you could choose in ohio. And I'm not being biased at all, I grew up at Snow Trails and have been to BMBW a lot. If you want to actually enjoy your time in the park go to Mad River in Ohio. I'm sure some kids from the OSU ski team would let you crash there too. MRM has got the best park in ohio.

ohio is in the play area id say any where with in a days drive is a go so east of Kansas and south of NY

Ohio is in the play area? You said you wanted to ski the midwest. That means Ohio (MRM, BMBW, Snowtrails), Indiana (PNS), Illinois (raging buffalo, chestnut ridge), Wisconsin (I don't know as many up there, but check it out) and throw PA (Seven Springs), MI, NY (Holiday Valley, Peak n Peak), MN, WV (Snowshoe) in there too.

Just saying if you actually want to tour the "midwest" anything east of western PA and NY is east coast.

Hit up MI homie. We don't have the best parks but the riders really do throw down. You should hit up east side and west side of the state. Its way different. If you come to MI hit up Mt. Brighton and Hawk Island on the east side first and bittersweet, Timber Ridge, and Cannonsburg on the west side. And then if you travel north you could hit up nubs nob and marquette mountain. All these places have some dope parks, and a feel your not gonna get anywhere else. Then you could cross the bridge and hit up the UP and get some midwest pow at mount bohemia. Cut across into wisconsion and minnesota and youll get to the good shit. Itd be a dope ass trip. Something I have often thought about but don't have the funds or the time for.

But i am biased and from MI.

what mtn is it that has the pencil rail and rope tow ??

That's what they call it I didn't name it. It was rated number 1 park in the Midwest

Come to sundown mountain resort in Dubuque, IA. I could get you free food if ur chyll cuz the lodge staff gives no fucks. Its a shitty mountain if you make it a shitty mountain imo. Its fun if you know what lines to take and realize there is a lot more to do than the park

Hit up Spirit Mountain in Duluth, MN for sure. The park is always on point (Henrik said it was most comparable in the Midwest to out West when we talked to him on the Inspired Demo Tour). And while you're here you can hit some pretty sick urban, all of Duluth is a playground. (video below is our Duluth urban from this year)

Hey now Erika, I thought bmbw did a better job than Mad River this year. But I'm probably biased.

We had so many more jibs and a 4 jump line this year.

Hit up Welch Village!

Just kidding, I couldn't send anyone there in good conscience.

If you want a mecca for park skiing, go to hyland. Other good options are: giant's ridge, granite peak, trollhaugen (lots of snowboarders) and maybe Afton alps. Granted, they're far from NC but most are probably worth it.

seconded, i ski there to and it is no doubt a shit hole, but if you hang with us for a day we can show you how to enjoy it. It's fun just to fuck with everybody there. Also hit up chestnut in galena and tyrol in swissconsin.

MOUNT BOHEMIA!!!

400"s of snow this year!!!!

POW TOWN

Otherwise, Granite Peak is great for the Wisco/IL/IA/MN scene

Being from the area also, I'd say hit up Hyland for sure if you want to have TONS of fun. Granite peak and tyrol basin and afton alps are others that are really fun.. afton alps for sure. I still have the most fun at Hyland, even if their rails/setup isn't as well maintained.

lots of good options id say ill pick 4-6 areas and hit as many as i can before i run out of $ or time but like i said this is still a year out. looks like i got lots of looking into places to do

My favorite parks in the midwest (this only includes places I've been to personally)

Hylands, MN

Afton Alps, MN

Trollhaugen, WI

Perfect North Slopes, IN (extremely underrated)

Do yourself a favor and don't go to Timber Ridge, I went there once and their park makes me shudder just thinking about it. Hawk Island is closing after this year, so don't go there either, but IMO it had the best park in Michigan. There is a chance of reopening but it looks like it wont happen. The best parks in Michigan right now are Mt. Brighton, Cannonsburg, and Nubs Nob, but they are awesome. If you are doing a Midwest trip, skip Ohio and come up to the Mitten.

Some footy from Hawk Island and Mount Brighton in my siggy down below, with a couple shots from Cannonsburg
