Michigan Nice?

I was thinking about it, does anyone have the skill or supplies to start a project similar to Minnesota Nice? I think that would be a sweet thing for Michigan skiers to take part in. Thoughts?
 
One idea was that people could film segments across the state and send them to one editor and they could compile a video from there. Just a thought again, but this seems like a cool idea.
 
So it's still very much in the planning stages, but we had been thinking and planning a somewhat Midwest encompassing project very similar to Minnesota Nice. Not really any details I can give out though.
 
well the first stage would be to decide who is going to set up the product and review it.

In my opinion,

We have people film segments from around the state, and edit them themselves or just get raw footage, and send the foote to a senior editor who makes the full movie and distributes it.

I think this would require really no funds and a good starting base.

Let me know what your thoughts are
 
I am in. I go to msu and we have a full editing studio, all the best stuff. also ive got a little crew, we started filming some last year
 
well yea... I was just trying to give people the idea. Figuring out a name is a long way down the road, we need some organization before any of that happens.
 
ahah, thats pretty good!how about..."The less fortunate"or something letting people know we have a lot less than they do.
 
why not show some sick michigan skiiing without the whining about where we live and what we deal with. everybodys got at least one thing movie quality (urban rail/ pow stash/tow in, etc), throw each one together and thatd be sick
 
yea agreed, I'm up in Marquette so people up here would probly be interested and they can put together some great shots. I'm from downstate and I know some sick park shots and urban rails are all around.
 
I would be willing to help edit, i have Premiere Pro and After Effects

I would also be willing to shoot some stuff and ski but i dont know if am good enough to ski

This winter a couple of my friends are trying to put on a contest in a Meijer parking lot
 
another thing i just thought of,

I think the MSU kids should edit just do to them having the studio

Everybody can shoot their own stuff

but have some sorta of requirement on the quality and format

when people shoot have so pan/zoom shots and some follow cam, get creative shots and not your everyday stand in one place and keep the camera still shots

Then at the end of the season have everybody mail a DVD of all the video files to one main person/group to edit it with the input of everybody

Then secondly we should have one group of people with some good film equipment go to several locations around Michigan over the season maybe like 7-10 locations and film stuff for the movie for a weekend

We could have a poll to see what places and what dates for each location to get the most skiers at each place

We also need some sorta of form of communication

maybe somebody needs to form a cult

something like "mitten" would work alright but I would like to keep the UP in mind cause that's where some of the best skiing in michigan and the midwest happens. "especially in Michigan" would be sweet if it wasn't already a Chilli Pep's song.
 
check the thread in the cult, i posted one for this. "murda mittens" sounds too ghetto, although we are from Michigan... hmmmmm, I like the mittens idea though
 
I think we need to just get ready to film as much as we can,

make sure to be creative with your shots, locations, and hits

tricks don't have to be difficult and video quality does not have to be HD, just have fun and shoot some video of skiing/snowboarding

do some followcam, pan shots, zoom shots, and just try different things even if you don't think they will work
 
Make the requirement simple. No shaky footage. Contest must be shot in at least 720 progressive. Multiple angles per shot = bonus points.

Guys, we can FOR SURE do this...we all just need to get a really good basis, and find out who needs to do what, and we can rock the shit outta the MIDWEST
 
Can anybody that is going to film for this please say so below

we need to get a list of names, and then if you are going to any ski resort just write up here where you are going an when.
 
Please join the Michigan Movie Cult everybody, were getting moving on this project and people are gettin stoked so I'm excited to see what we can do. I agree with the person above who said something about general requirements.. no shaky footage etc..

The cult will keep things compiled and easy to locate. Lets try and figure out this project soon before the snow flies.
