i think hes pretty poignant. bowling for columbine didn't present many fair opportunities for rebuttles, but it was a fucking well made movie. you don't get an oscar for nothing. he's certainly not an idiot.

FIrstly someone from cbc (an intern or some shit) tried to interview him like he did to roger in roger and me and the intern was refused. Secondly in Bowling for Columbine when he goes after CHarleton heston, whos clearly senial. It also pisses me off how people don't take it for edutainment. Micheal Moore is the left wing's version of lou dobbs or bill o'reilly. He's not great, or the god that some have made him out to be. I'm left wing as fuck, but I have to question his tactics once in a while.

Say what you will, he's effective. left wingers aren't used to public figures like him coming from 'our' side, so he takes a lot of shit sometimes. not all of it is deserved.

i see the point of bowling for columbine and it does have strong points about violence in america but some of his tactics i disagreed with. charlseton heston is a fucking piece of shit but that interview with him at the end was not exactly the best way to do it.

Michael Moore is an idiot. I hate him. No matter what your beliefs are on a certain issue, you dont stand up in the oscars and completly shame yourself and your country. If he was really concerned about where this country was going, he would be looking for constructive ways to improve it, not just making stupid remarks that only tear down morale and produce nothing.

i think in a way he is raising awareness that there is a lot of preventable violence in the US and by doing this he might make others feel differently about what they are doing. there are a lot of ignorant people that feel that raising arms is the only way to make things better (michigan militia ) i think that is it. by raising a voice he is in a way helping to prevent more violence

one more thing, as for america being a gun obsessed nation, the only reason this is so is because the right to bear arms in written in the american bill of rights. the reason people rise up over the issue of gun control is because is it an infrigement of their rights. if so many people in america have a problem with this, try organizing a lobbying initiative to have the american government amend the bill of rights

B.F.C. showed that the US's media is a large factor in the amount of gun violence that is cause in the US. his compaire of canada's gun deaths per year to ours was incredible, pluse the fact they have almost as many guns per capita as we do. personaly i don't belive everything i'm told, but i do belive a majority of the findings moore makes in his books/movie

i never saw bowling for columbine, ive just read 'dude wheres my country' and watched a couple episodes of his old show on sharescan last night. the book was ok, started well, ran off into bullshit. i said meh. watched the show... even the little left wing party favor topics he was presenting he exploited. he's a tool. a media pawn i'm sure since he's under time warner.

i hope you guys realize that he was on to something. look up the facts, other countries (i think he used Canada as his example) have just as many guns yet far far fewer gun deaths. You can just look away from the facts.

 
He's not really a 'pawn' of a company... in the corporation, he says it doesn't make sense. 'Why do they keep giving me funding to make these movies and books? So they can make money. it's their fatal flaw, they'll sell the rope to hang them with if they think they can make a buck.'

First off, michael moore is awesome and he is not that left wing considering that he backed Wesley Clark as the 2004 democratic president. He is also part of the NRA a somewhat Right Wing Republican organization... And for all you talking about his movies you should also read his books like 'Dude, Wheres my Country?' and 'Stupid White Men' They dont sit on the Best Sellers list for months becuse he is an idiot. I suggest that all you dirty Republicans shut the hell up because if you actually believe in someone like George Bush as a president you are an idiot. He got C's in college, got a DUI, went AWOL on the Air Force, and didnt even recievce the popular vote. That is what Michael Moore is against.

He doesn't really leave you with a solid foundation in Bowling for Columbine. Although i thought it was an awesome film, he didn't actually give any thoughts on how to solve the gun problem. (at least that i could tell) He tells how people in Canada have just as many guns as us, and only 150 people die from gun deaths(it was something like that, one country had like 5 if i remember) but considering he lives in Michigan, you just know hes got a gun.

Could someone clear up what he wanted if it was said?

 
havent seen his movie-but i read the book 'Stupid White Men' and it was insane- loved it, made some good points, i really liked it.

my views tend to lean left and i agree that micheal moore is a bit of a sensationalist but his points are mostly right on. unfortunately due to the ignorance and stubborness of many people the left needs someone like him to shove the facts in the face of the public. his facts are right and the shoving is regretably necessary.
