when the fuck did all the skiers out there grow ovaries? there are about 20 threads on the first pages of ski gabber and gear talk, all relating to clothing and accessories? "what would look good with this?" "look at my new suit" etc etc. Not to mention the huge thread devoted entirely to what people wear. Is it really that important too all of you that your 'outfit' 'matches' with everything, and that your helmet and goggles 'complement' your clothing? And if that is not queer enough, just take a look at the latest trends in outerwear:

Last year it was that renamed baby blue from Oakley, and this year it is purple. Whats next, pink? Could you all chose any more feminine then to worry if you new goggles and helmet are going to go well with your purple matching outfit?

For a sport that is made up of primaraly guys there shure is a whole lot of estrogen floating around. Shit half the time affter some one posts an edit, the questions are about what they were wearing, rather then talking about the skiing.

So my question is: has it really gotten to the point where what you wear become this important? Is the show What Not to Wear going to start featuring skiiers. Leave the fasion to the cougers in aspen, and just worry about your skiing.

Very well said. I couldnt agree more but yeah I believe it has gotten to that. Youre not cool unless you know and have the latest trends duh

There is a consortium of outerwear designers somewhere very much enjoying their jobs twisting the image of skiing into whatever they want

duuuuuude who gives a fuck! this thread is not going to change what people where and probably not even have an impact on anyone. just let bitches do what they do and dont worry about anything other than your skiing holmess

I like my outerwear to fit well together because I like how it looks. I don't do it to impress other people, I wanna put on my ski gear and like what I see in the mirror.

its become so trendy that nothing has any value to people after one season cause its allready out of style, its a shame that just people have fallen for this crap. but in all reality if you really enjoy skiing you will spend your cash on ski passes over the latest greatest color trend

that's stupid, you saying that people with great outwear dont have passes? so they just walk around in their town with their sick suits. right. You can have a sick outwear and love skiing thats just rediculeous to say that you cnat love skiing if you have a sick outwear could we not start like an internet battle about that just like it always ends up when people hate on people who have nice outwears..

Yeah, I def agree with what you're saying about paying big bucks for "trendy" stuff when you could be buying great passes. But if I'm gonna be paying for good quality outerwear, why not let it be nice. I don't like wearing what everyone else is wearing, I like being original. In Whistler I bought a limited edition sick North Face jacket for a really good price. I was so stoked, cus I had a high quality jacket that only like 200 were made (I don't know exact numbers, I think this is true) and I got it for a good price. Pants for me aren't as important, as long as they perform well and look good to me I'll take them.
I also usually have to get new outerwear every year / every other year cus I'm still growing. I can usually get 2 seasons out of my outer wear, but boots no way. And I usually get a new pair of skis once a season, cus of height and them getting trashed. ([claim] Last season I got new skis for free because my Nordica Superchargers were still under warranty and the side wall cracked for no apparent reason [/claim] )

some girl told me that i'd get laid more if i wore pink so..this is what i got...

..she lied.

skiing is about getting away from the daily grind, get away from town, your worries and problems to go have fun with your friends and relax. who honestly cares if your outriggers match your bindings or if you have to same set up as tom wallish? im sure that is the most important part of your winter as a youth that you will look back on and reminence when you are 85 years old, in the nursing home. because we should all have fun now, while we can and enjoy our young enduring bodies, enstead of trying to be something we are not

It happens in almost every sport. Skiing is just a little worse, probably because you have to wear more things to keep warm so people now think well why don't i make this styley(if thats a word). All the pro's, mostly the gangster G steezy ones started this.
Look tom wallisch and henrik spend most of their time stretching out there t's or there new jiberish hoodie to make it tall and G. If you think about it its just the gangster look that makes everyone ask about that coat or those pants.
Also maybe marketers plans are working, i mean where would the ski industry be if pro's didn't wear all this crazy clothing. What's happening now is a marketers dream, everyone buying what the pro's have. Thats a company's main goal when sponsoring someone. " O i want that it looks cool and my favorite skier wears it."
I dont know if that will make any sense, im blazed. Hopefully though. I read it over twice

the steeze to please is wearing your stuff until it's purpose become defeated, including giant holes in jacket and pants, malfunction of zippers, and thats pretty much it

Okay so take the Orange line to east falls church. Take a left out of the parking lot. Continue down great falls road to route 123. Right on 123. go 2 miles. Take a left on Stuart Robeson.
and that, is where i live.

the ski scene is whack right now. its almost gotten to the point where i want to become an emo just so i dont have to care/think about all the trends

ya this pisses me off just as much.. people need just realize that it doesnt matter what the hell they look like. They need to just go out and have fun.

I bought my set up this year for around $50.. I got a jacket, pants and a new helmet..

Thanks newschoolers!
