before i start...yes ive tried the searchbar so dont hate.

so i was wondering like what kind of metal to get for a backyard rail if any is better than the other?

and some ideas for rails would be great too!

well price doesnt matter, my dad can get any metal he wants from his work. they have a plasma cutter, $10,000 welder basically the whole deal plus free metal. so like i said the money isnt a factor...

a basic 1020 steel tubing would be fine. That's what we use, either rectangular tubing or cirular 1/4" wall thickness. Any decent metal supplier should know what you need.

1/4" isn't needed, thats way think, i used .120 gauge which is similar to 1/16th inch i believe, but it may be 3/16th inch.

yeah you're right, 1/4" is a bit much. I was visualizing 1/4 cm, I don't know inches, I just know the designations for most mats you have to get here in the states is inches. lol, a quarter inch is almost 1 cm ... yeah 1/16 would be fine

get some tube steel that has a 1/4" wall it'll be heavy but you wont need to worry about it breaking or bending and if you get like 2x4 or 2x6 tube steel it will be reall good for practicing switch-ups and tech stuff like that, and one last thing get it as long as possible a good 20ft is minimum or you'll be on and off so fast you'll get bored with the thing in like a minute

galvanized steel will rust once you take the coating off when you slide it, but ya galvanized, thats what urban handrails are made out of. and definatly make it 20ft or more because whoever said it was right you will get bored if its shorter. i have a 12ft pvc rail and its like your on then have to get off right away...
