So I'm trying to sell a guitar on craigslist. I got a response from some guy that says:

"Thanks for the swift response.please I will still like to make an

instant purchase .I would have called but am out of town .so i would

appreciate it if you can withdraw the ad from Craigslist.i don't mind

adding an extra $30 for you to takethe ad down from criagslist,i want

to be rest assured that nobody

else gets a hold of he item.I will also like you to know that i

willbe paying via company certified cashier check. It will be overnight

payment due to the distance.i will take care of that.i will need

youto provide me with the following infomation to facilitate the mailing

of the check:-

1.Your full name.

2.Your mailing address[residential].

3.Your phone number.

**I am located in Las Vegas but currently on a business trip.I would

also like to pay asap and my sister's mover will come pick it up but i

hope that it is still in a very good condition?Have a splendid week"

Here is my response to him:

"That sounds good, as long as it's a certified check. However, before I

give my information, I would like to make sure that this safe. Could you

send a picture of yourself? To make sure it's you, I'd like you to

hold a sign that says "Fluffhead", with your ID in the picture to prove

that you are who you say. Also, I would prefer to meet with your sister

as well as the mover, could you include a picture of her? I want to make

sure that I'm giving my guitar to the right person.

You have a splendid week as well!"

I'll keep you updated.

hahaha that's pretty funny. i've never dealt something over craigslist before, so what exactly tipped you off that he's a scammer?

I've got about 3 or 4 people asking for the same exact thing. It's a pretty common scam. They send a fake cashier's check that goes through the bank, until they realize it's fake. Then I'd be responsible for the money.

Bwahahahahaha

You the fuck are you on PT? I like that move a lot. Best one was the guy in the ny marathon with fluffhead on his shirt

Not just cashiers check scams

spam bots crawl cl ads, sending emails to the anon account cl does for you, then the stupid fucks dumb enough to respond just get their email thrown on a list.
