Messed up my back

i chipped, tore ligements, bruised bone, and sprained 2 other ligements in my knee last year and broke my back a few weeks before that... and i still skied a week later dispite the dr telling me i was done for the season. this early in the season tho id take it easy, that happend to me in march and i wasnt about to miss the park at its prime

you might have strained your lower back muscles or as i call it "old man disease" I have done this several times skiing. it feels kind of funny at first so you keep skiing then the next morning you cant bend your torso to get out of bed or put on shoes etc. you just bitch and moan while shuffleing around the house, not able to bend. so anyway I went to the doc x-rays and stuff then they just gave me perscription strengh noproxen sodium (aleve)one time and muscle relaxers another. maybe what you did is similar. oh ya dont drink alcohol while on muscle relaxers

These aren't just for lower left back, but try them and see if they help. Lie face down, and put your arms out straight with your hips still on the floor so your back is arched. Then do the reverse so you look like your bowing down to someone and arch it the other way. Also to get your muscles strengthened, theres an exercise where you put your feet on a soft ball, and only your shoulders and head on the floor, and then thrust up and down with your hips. The more unstable the ball is the better. See if these work buddy, but take it easy

yeah dude i think you probably tweaked a muscle in your lower back..i did it pitching in baseball about 2 years ago and it SUCKED....it hurt for like 2 months....but i also kept playing and never did what hte doc told me to do..he said take a week off and just keep stretching it....so maybe just stretch it?

well i could see where tha twould hurt it...from soccer in the summer i messed up my mid left part of my back. couldnt really do much for a few months other than play soccer cuz skiing hurt. but i hurt it again at killington and all i did was put a heating pad on it for 2 weeks for like 30 min while doing hw and it got better

i've had chronic (mmm) lower back pain for about 10 years...

take 2 tablets of naproxen sodium (alleve) every day... or more if you need it, my doctor told me i can take twice the amount it says on the bottle and be fine. take this stuff every day because it has a cumulative effect and will help more the longer you take it.

also use ice right after an actue injury, heat any other time. use a heating pad before you get some hot girl to rub your back, it will work better.

also, the stretches that someone posted earlier are good . my favorite is when you lay flat on the floor on your back and throw your right knee all the way over your body to the floor on your left side. if you keep your right shoulder on the floor, you should feel a crazy stretch. do the same on the other side.

quit sliding rails for a week or so and you should be fine.

cheers

october 30th at killington, same exact thing happened to me. I was in really bad pain for awhile, i coulnd't bend my head down or do sudden movements at all. about 2 weeks later i head up to sunday river, i hit a mogul run, it hurt but wasnt' too bad. next run i hit a mogul and like my whole back went in to shock and i couldn't move it. i laid there for about 10 minutes then took it slow and went into the lodge and iced it. i rested it for about 2 weeks, no skiing no nothing, use a heating pad and try to elevate your feet when your sitting down, before your going to do something take advil or aleeve. i went skiing a few days ago and it wasn't nearly as bad. just make sure u rest it for awhile. good luck man i know the feeling

I saw this guy at Sugarbush yesterday looked high teens low 20's, anyway he took off his jaacket and he had a big, white, plastic back corrector/support thing.
