Messed up mounting

so i got my arvs mounted last december and i thought everything was ok. I pulled off my bindings last night so that i could sell my skis this weekend at the ski swap. one of my skis got drilled wrong. There are eight holes that have been filled in. not just like another drill pattern but ramdom holes. all these holes were under my bindings soi did not notice until now. i am going to take my skis to the place i mounted them today. i was wondering do you think i should just ask for a free mount on my new skis or should i ask for more.
 
... i dont think i would let that shop touch my skis ever again. its hard to find a tech who knows what theyre doing, some of the guys i work with are COMPLETE retards and im amazed more people arent coming back paralyzed, it sounds to me like whoever was mounting it used the wrong jig or something

dont let that shop do anything more to your skis but you might as well go complain and see what they'll do for you
 
buddy, you want a free mount? ask for a new pair of fucking skis, thats rediculous. Shops cant do that shit. Expecially wthout tlling you, thats like someone puking on your car seat, putting a towel over top of it, and you finding out the next day.
 
my shop did that, but they didn't even plug the mistake holes. so water got into my core because of the unfilled holes, and my heel piece ripped out. I made them buy me new skis.
 
Free skis? Shut up, he skied them all year and didn't even know about it. It's not a big deal.

I've fucked up a few times on customers' skis and I'll always tell them about it straight up so they know about it. Half price or free mount if I feel like it but I'm talking about little things. These things happen. Them not telling you about it is the bad thing here. I've worked with some guys who fuck up all the time because they're careless and they just cover it up and send the skis out with the customer. If they ever do find out about it like you have then the shop gets a bad rep. If you're straight up with people and explain it's no big deal then they're cool with it.
 
I agree that free skis is ridiculous, but they did put an extra 8 holes that might scare away some people who are interested in his skis. I guess I dont know an appropriate thing the shop should do. Maybe apologize and free mount?
 
maybe a slip here or there but 8 holes? cman thats rediculous i mean they say re drilling twice is bad for ur skis...i would make them get u new ones or something cuase i would be mad pissed...try to find someone in some shop who knows what there doin and then just go back and ask if they can do it for u thats wat i do
 
You should freak out and definately try to get free skis out of it. That's like buying a new car, and then having the dealer break some stuff under the hood. Even if whatever they broke never affected you they still should have to replace whatever they broke.
 
tell them that you are trying to sell them and now have to sell them for less because there are so many remount holes in them. then bs an amount that you have to take off for there fuck up and demand either cash or store credit in that amount. yes?? no??
 
man if i were you id straight up tell them new skis or a shop credit of some kind, the point isnt about them accidently drilling new holes, its about them not telling you, and if you were to ever remount, it would be liek remounting them a 3rd time (high not recommended) not a 2nd time
 
yeah, shops are alot more likely to help you out if youre not being an ass to them... thereve been a few people that came into the store and screamed at us and they didnt get shit, actually we blacklisted them so they can never come back

and theres no point in taking out ur anger on them cuz the chances are that whoever mounted them a year ago isnt gunna be the person youre talking to, and if the shops half responsible then whoever mounted them the last time wont be there anymore, but dont chance it
 
if they wont give you new skis you should also ask for cash compansation for the money you will lose in resale.
 
i went to the shop yesterday and the manger was not

there. so i called the shop manager today and he said that is does not affect

resale since they can still be mounted one more time. I told him that is

not true and he still told me there is nothing he can do. i then talked

to the store manager and she is going to "do some research" then get

back to me. If she does nothing then I am

going to write a letter to corporate office complaining and tell them that I will

make sure other people in the ski/snowboard club and team do not go to their

store anymore.
 
/\good for you--yes there's been a lot of talk about free skis being too much--I think that's bullshit. Free skis of equal or lesser value is what you deserve--whether you'll get them or not is a different story. I would use this as a compromise--You should get a substantial discount on a new pair, like get them at cost. That way I think everyone wins--that more than makes up for the value lost in your skis, and the shop isn't getting completely fucked. Just my .02
 
i would definitly want a cash refund or something.. but all i got to say for advice is know your shop guy i know the guy that does my skis enough to trust him that im gettin a good job done.
 
I just got a pair on Bluehouse Districts mounted. When they gave them to me one of the bindings was mounted around 5 cm higher than the one on the other ski. All they did was fix the fucked up one and not charge me for the mount. So now I have one ski with 16 holes and the other with 8. Thanks A.G.
 
/\same thing happened to me at my shop, they mounted a binding about 5cm forward of the other--they were ANTs, and the shop didn't even carry armada.  They STILL sent them back and got me a brand new pair.  Still charged me for the mount but they made it right.  Though I think the reason they did this is because they argued it was a warranty issue because Armada's lines are all fucked up, it was still cool that they did that.  
 
the only way to deal with that shit is just be calm. and for the future, know your tech guy like some other guy said. that shits serious.

or...

come in with a fuckin gun, shoot the ski tech who fucked you over in the head, kill everyone else in the shop. then pour gasoline all over their shop and torch the place.

thats my advice. whatever works best for you. and for the second one, pics or it didn't happen rule still applies.
 
thats pretty much crappy if they do nothing, what if your ski snaps on a rail or something and you get hurt, will they pay your pital bill? I think not! they should get you some new planks
 
Wow that's total bullshit dude. Those are your skis, they fucked them up, then essentially lied to you by putting you under the impression that it didn't ever happen. That's shady business right there. If a shop fucks mounting up, they should tell you and buy you new skis. It doesn't matter how much you say "oh its no big deal just fill them up", having a bunch of extra holes in the skis that this kid probably paid like 500 dollars for is just not cool.

I'm guessing that if they're gay enough to do that they won't give you new sticks, but they really should.
 
They shouldn't give you new sticks, but they do owe you a solid c-note or so. think about it...drilled once already kills like 40% of their value.
 
to make up they should go outta their way. New sticks....no, unless they got 05-06 shit hanging around, which i doubt....but they should work with you and give you some value added cuz they tried to hide shit from you.
 
Why shouldn't they give him new sticks?? Rember that a shop buys their skis for much much less then you do, so its not like it would cost them all that much. And it's just part of business, you mess up someone's product, you have to replace it. The end.
 
i am stoked. the manager called me this morning and told me that they are going to give me a new pair of 06 07 arvs. they just need to transfer them from another store. the guy was super nice about it today except for calling me at 9 in the morning but its ok to call that early when you that good of news
 
Good to hear it worked out for you. It doesn't pay to be an asshole in these situations. Enjoy the new skis!
 
I can't believe how many fucking idiots there are working in ski shops. I would fucking flip if someone fucked my skis up like this. If they don't give you new skis or any other sort of compensation, take your business elsewhere and tell everyone you know to do the same. And to the guy who works in the shop and appparently doesn't think its a big deal to drill a bunch of extra holes in customers skis so long as you tell them, fuck you. You shouldn't be mounting anyone's skis. This isn't fucking rocket science. If you fucked up more than once in my shop, your ass would be fired.
