That's because Goretex only allows certain brands to use their membrane to ensure a high quality product. If goretex allowed anyone to use their membrane you would see jackets that are shit and jackets that are amazing. Just like Hyvent from TNF have a 600 dollar jacket and a 200 dollar jacket that is a piece of shit.

I wore my Saga snow pants for about 3 months before there was a hole in the crotch so big I could fit a basketball through it if i wanted to. Had a friend sew it back up and that lasted longer than the actually factory sew. Also got a jacket that year that had a rip on the left side almost instantly, didn't do warranty on either because I didn't have any other outerwear to wear when skiing and I'm not about to give up skiing for 3 weeks to get a new jacket that I'm not gonna wear next season. Don't think I'm gonna buy Saga anymore, haven't had that good of an experience. They look cool but they're really not that good of quality.

Yep, Contacted them earlier this year and they said that the best they could do was 60% off but with the Canadian dollar so weak it was really only 30% off and i still had to pay for shipping. So I decided against it because the other 2 had ripped so easily.

If I'm not mistaken , you have to pay Gore to use their Gore-Tex membrane. They have some criteria that you have to meet. Gore test the jacket before approving them, so that's why the Gore-Tex jacket are normally better.

As for TNF, you can see that they are moving away from gore-tex, they skip summit series and relaunched it this year whit Dryvent 3L, which is way to stiff for my liking.

All S/S was gore-tex before, for the most part, and it was really good.

But using gore-tex cut into profit , and that's why the use mostly Hyvent, Hyvent 2.5, Hyvent alpha (which is a membrane) and now dryvent.

I'm a big fan of Arc'teryx, because they use gore-tex for everything, And I like gore-tex because I know what I gonna have and how good it is, Sure Dryvent 3l, Derminaz and all the other membrane are good, but Gore for me put a membrane that equal quality, and I'm not buying anything else now.

Not the apha, sorry if I said that, I'm talking about the new L5 summit series, which is dryvent 3L, my alpha sv is is not as stiff as that and the sv is 80 denier

Dryvent 3L is hyvent alpha. They've just changed the name of it. It's the exact same microporous laminate.

And yeah the L5 is a 70 denier fabric which is what is also used in Gore tex pro and is the most durable fabric that is used in climbing and skiing jackets. So it's not the membrane. I know with my the plastmatic jacket which is a dryvent 3L and a 40 denier and it's super loose and feels really fragile.

You get what you pay for. I'm not saying Saga is shit. They are exactly what they should be for the price.

Arc'teryx Alpha SV Goretex ProShell. $700 jacket has lasted 7 years and is still waterproof as fuck. And I'm just starting to see my first stitching come loose and it's only on the draw string at the bottom.

I've had a Burton 3L that is a Goretex Proshell too but it's not as breathable or quite as waterproof. 3 years and the build is still solid pretty much.
