Hey everyone out there making sweet ski vids. I just have a lil tip for ya that may help the editors. I’ve seen this quite a bit and it makes me upset cause otherwise nice ski movies look shoddy. If you’re editing and adding clips to a timeline, make sure there is no frame space in between clips. This is called a Flash Frame, and it’s sometimes tough to spot. It’s one or two frames of a gap in between clips, causing a black screen to flash up. This subliminal blip really disrupts videos, and especially the flow of ski movies. Zoom all the way in and go through the whole project and look for these frame gaps, it will help a lot. I also figure this forum can be used for the critics out there to say what they expect out of a ski movie, ski trailer, etc. You know, just talk about what you like and don’t like in certain ski movies. That way any filmmakers out there can learn a little bit more what the people want and don’t want before they edit. So add all the tips you want to this, so we can make better edits and trailers and stuff.

 
common sense would suggest it. however, from time to time I like doing it to add effect. Itn's sometimes a nice way to tranistion (if made right).

Yeah, black screen can be a hot effect if used right.

no one shod use BLACK ever

when you cut up film is there black in the middle?

BLACK is only ment for credits

In my video i have it go balck to the beat of the music and when ur showing a bunch of clips of falls like u dont show them comin ot a rail or riding a away black looks good other wise NO THANK YOU its ugly

I just bought the canon XL1s...its got a 4 year warrenty, do you think that covers something that may happen to it, say if a lense scratched, viewfinder snaps, etc... during ski filming, or any extream filming in general? or am i waaay off base on what this warrenty covers?

 
Good use of the fade to black thing in the Indivisuals teaser. I really like how it's used in that.
