there is a guy i know has spent most of his life living out in the bush. he is convinced that china and probably russia will invade the US via alaska. he made me get out my state atlas and mark down his cabins as a contingency plan for when it happens and also taught me how to hide from helicopters with thermal vision.

realistically though:
if nukes were involved, the world would loose in general and both sides would be obliterated. There are too many nuclear armed subs on both sides whose locations are unknown except to those on them for it to not end in annihilation of our civilization once 1 shot is fired.
if nukes were not involved: It would turn into a siege situation. the US relies too heavily on every other country for resources. The military would have to squander every last ounce of fossil fuels in the US to be able to successfully defend against the rest of the world. the populous is too dependant on fuels to last more than a month without huge revolts asking for peace so they can drive their SUV's again. 1/8th of the population would freeze to death the first winter from lack of general survival skills against cold.
they would have to take of Canada right away for the oil/gas, which would be impossible to hold. every oil/gas platform on the atlantic and golf sides would be targeted and blown up with little to no issues. all pipelines within Canada that they'd rely upon would be sabotaged and useless within no time. same said for refineries.
basically it comes down to the US being fucked because of resources, where the rest of the world has an adequate supply to keep the military and civilian uses going.

yeah. 'cause when/if the world actually goes go to shit, sitting around with all your guns, tanks, planes, boats, etc is really going to help bring fresh drinking water to the people in the Southwest and grow your crops in the midwest and keep the power on for everyone in the northeast.

If/when the world 'goes to shit' it will have nothing to do with how strong your military power is, it will have to do with how set up you are with your resources. guns does not equal food and water.

Never mind that there was the rest of the allies that were involved before the US in WWII and clearly had no impact on the outcome.
The reason the rest of the world resents the states is because there is such a self absorbed culture that just comes off as obnoxious and ignorant. Anyway, I'm pretty happy that my country doesn't send itself spiralling into debt to fund a military with weapons so horrible that the idea of using them is beyond horrible.

No one doubts the contributions of the states. I also think that the lives of the rest of the allies weren't wasted and their efforts weren't in vain. The wars aren't something to joke about and the way you talk about them is a perfect example of why 'murca irritates the world.
