Mercedes Benz.

audis in general are money traps, once they hit about 60,000-80,000 miles they start breaking down, needing to get shit replaced, notably the timing belts.

my dad got a 2003 Lexus LS430 simply because consumer report said it was an amazing car. i guess its pretty good but i fucking hate it. it drives like a boat

they sell them all over the world.

they're also soooo much more reliable than a Mercedes, and don't charge you out the ass for simple parts.

lexus and toyota are different, yes toyota makes lexus they are not simply re badged toyotas, try and find how many lexus recalls there has been.

why has j.d. power and associats named lexus the most reliable brand in the u.s. 14 times? you really can't say that a mercedes is more realiable or well built than a lexus.

dont charge nearly as much eh?

Toyota. As reported by Jean Halliday in AdAge, Toyota is getting hammered on the 'net and in court by Prius owners who insist that the darlings of the green car world have faulty optional high-intensity discharge headlamps that can cost as much as $1,000 to replace. Although Toyota hasn't been asked by NHTSA to address this issue, if Toyota appears to continue to dance around issuing a blanket internal order to fix the headlamps - which conjures up memories of their stone-walling in the Camry oil sludge problem of a few years ago - then things could go from bad to worse for Toyota's image. As Peter told AdAge: "If Toyota moves quickly, the whole thing will blow over." But if not, there will be "ill will" among owners because "word-of-mouth is still the most powerful form of advertising." Why is Toyota repeating past mistakes? By letting this HID headlamp issue fester "out there" in the real world it will only get more negative. We have an easy solution for you, Toyota: Shut up and fix it before you kill the buzz on the new generation Prius that's just hitting the market.

"this goes against what im saying, therefore im going to discredit it as biased"

gooood arguing, in fact im going to do it.

those sites are biased.

this is written by a person that is not making millions of dollars a year and does not influence the sales of company in a way that a major corporation like J.D would

get like a 1990-1994 if the person took care of it it will be in good shape and they are gangster as fuck its what biggie rolled in back in his day

Are you hating on Toyotas or just trying to say that Mercedes are better cars. They aren't more reliable that's for sure. I had a 2001 Camry with 250,000 miles on it as of this year (don't ask) and the only thing that's been changed in the engine have been spark plugs and batteries. I call that reliability.

im saying they are not on the same level. how do you know if a benz is reliable if you have never owned one?

I ave 1994 Ford ranger with 225,807 as the odo reads, and the only thing ive had to buy was aa starter

All performance cars are less reliable, I'm no auto buff just gotta stand up for my toyotas. I wouldn't consider my camry a hotrod by any means though.

I have a 2001 F150 with 210,000 miles. Runs like a champ. (about 90% are highway miles though) i am the original owner.

F150s are awesome trucks. Its too bad all new engines are so computer run. I have a 1980 F150 and its still a carburetor. Easy as shit to fix, runs like a champ as well. We've named it the "adventure truck"

same with mine, the original owner worked in detroit and lived in chicago and drove it back and forth every weekend

j.d. is based on surveys asked to people who have owned the car for the last three years. yes lexus doesnt have an sl amg or slr, but i would take a GS over a E class.

i had a 335i, one of the first ones in ohio. i took it to the track and ran a 12.8 or something stock, maybe 13, not sure i have to go find the time slip. smoked a gto that was talking mad shit saying i had a "girly white bmw 4door" that car was insane, sooo much fun to drive.

M3 FTW!! If you want AWD, get the 335xi (preferably the 2007-2010 with the twin turbos), drop a couple of grand into it (ECU, downpipes, intercooler) and you can have a low 11s car. imho BMW>Benz or Audi, the only Audi cars I like are the R8 and upcoming RS5. BMW is the true drivers car of the three. Mercedes are comfortable, but do not handle as well.

no dude lexus's are so sick but i agree they are a bit over priced for what they are. but i'd take a lexus over a benz or bmw any day.

what kind of mercedes? how much money can you spend?

you cant just say all mercedes are unreliable and expensive, my dad had an 82 sel, and that ran forever, hardly ever had problems and when it did have problems it was cheap to fix.

yeah obviously a newer 100 grand mercedes is gonna be expensive to own, but you cant compare that at all to most other mercedes, especially older ones.

it totally depends on what mercedes you want. some are as cheap and reliable as a honda, and some cost as much to own as a ferrari.

if you want something reliable and similar to a mercedes id look at bmw's, obviously some can be expensive to own too, but some are crazy reliable. a friend of mine had an e30 that ran for over 400,000 miles on the stock engine, and he was not careful with it at all.

i've got an 83 300SD, straight ballin. except when its below 0 out and it won't start haha

Benz's are awesome. I drove my Dad's 1993 SL500 for a couple years (07-09) as one of my first cars and the thing is a beast. it has well over 100,000 miles and drove like new.
Getting it fixed is all about who you know. My Dad bought, repaired, and sold sports cars to make extra cash for a large portion of his life and got to know lots of repairmen. If you can find a good international auto dealership and become "friends" with some people that work there then you'll be in the clear. It might take a couple of oil changes to make "buddy" status, but when they're working on your car, just make small talk and show that your interested and care about your car. Also, learn how to do minor repairs and stuff like oil changes on your own.

It was a 500SE not a SL500 like I first said. Stock it looks good, but paint that gray part black and it looks baller.

i drive a 2003 mercedes ml 500, its got about 40K miles on it, its had two oil changes already which ran me abot 200 each, and its about to get new brakes/rotors which is about a grand. they are great cars but they do cost alot more then i expected. the only thing that i can think that would be an upside is if you live in a bigger city you can find good mechanics, i have to take mine to the dealership, it takes special tools to do any work on these cars.

try to find a 500e. not a new e500. but the older 500e. they are awesome, any old amg is awesome, 560 sec's and sel's and the 190'e 16v cosworth, they are a little hard to find but so awesome!

if you need to worry about how much it costs to fix then i doubt you can afford one...dont buy a used one either there pretty unreliable cars my dad had one breaks down a lot they are sick cars tho

it's a fucking w201 evo II.what are you insinuating?
good job....late 80's merc = boxy euro carlate 80's bmw = boxy euro car
