MEGABUS...legit or no???

So they just added a megabus stop to state college,pa. they also have a stop in pittsburgh (where my gf lives). i plan on using megabus this summer if its legit, but this shit definitely seems sketchy. as of now, one ticket is 3 bucks to pittsburgh, and a week later its 10 bucks. this is much much cheaper than the other bus that runs this same route daily at 30 bucks a trip. i found in the T & S the pricing info:

All prices are shown in US$. Megabus.com one-way fares start as low as US$1. Fares will vary by reservation date, day of travel and demand for seats. US$1 fares are limited. Fares are subject to change without notice. A 50¢ fee is charged for all reservations. For changes to existing reservations a US50¢ change fee and a 50¢ new reservation fee will apply. Any change to your reservation may result in a fare increase. Megabus will offer its best prices to those who make reservations early or choose less popular trips. However, all trips will remain competitively priced offering excellent value for your money. Please note that due to the high sales volumes on our website, prices may fluctuate between searches.

A single reservation fee of 50¢ is charged for all megabus reservations. This fee is charged to cover bank and administration charges related to your reservation.

I really don't like that line at all. Has anyone used megabus, and if so what can i expect the price to increase to if i book today at 3 bucks one way and 10 the other? do you think it will end up being cheaper than the 30 dollar trip?

Sounds like Skybus, which was legit in it's time. Well if you're a no frills type of person it was cool. Just brown bag it and don't expect a pillow.

im fine with the no frills. ill ride underneath the bus if i have to to get to pittsburgh lol. i figure i can have my mom drive me to state college then catch the buts to pittsburgh from there. i just figured id check the legitimacy of the pricing and stuff before i book it and get charged 60 bucks outta nowhere.

Whats a megabus? Those like the ones in London that are two buses attached in the middle? Supposedly soon there is going to be a super train from LA to Frisco that is going to take like an hour or something. Pretty cool, makes going to Frisco just to get wasted totally viable.

its a company that has a fleet of double decker buses that does specific routes from city to city. if you book far enough in advance, you can get bus tickets for a dollar.

you might get decapitated on a greyhound, so as of now i would say that mega buses aren't that sketch. in comparison.

I've ridden the Megabus from Cincinnati to Chicago and back on several occasions and it is legit. When they say no frills they mean it, but it gets you there cheap. If you can get a reservation early enough you can pay as little as a dollar

soo legit.
bus tickets for mad cheapand try this promo code "getaway" sometimes you can get tickets for only $1

Used it a couple of times when i was on a holiday in the USA, it was pretty much on it's time schedule and really cheap. Don't expect any luxerie tho. But it get's you where you need to be =)I never made reservations tho, just went to the busstop and bought my ticket there. It's a bit more expensive, but I'm not really planning anything when on a holiday =)

I was about to respond with the same thing. I'm in grad school and I've used it the past two years (along with several classmates) to go to Chicago for a week long conference.

To the original poster....WE ARE! Penn State class of 08!
