I never really surf this end of NS so if im posting incorrectly i appologize ahead of time. Im using the new windows movie maker for the first time and when i try to "publish" a movie to "my computer" the softwear freezes everytime. Anybody run into this? Any trouble shooting ideas?
 
get your hands on some other software ASAP.

You'll find that Movie Maker limits what you can do, provides a terrible interface, produces sub-par results, and is really not worth your time.
 
Definitely.

However, I worked with WMM for about 3 years, and to be honest I achieved some mediocre results with it - nothing great, mind you, but for what I was doing at the time, it was good enough. If you're just messing around at this point, it would probably be more beneficial to learn about basic techniques in WMM before upgrading to somethiing - that new program will prove to be way more complicated.

Abe, don't knock it too much - I remember Slandis was once using it to compress his edits.

Anyway, what are the specs of your comp? Are you working with HD footage?
 
Yeah, its nothing special its just a digital camera. I plan on getting a gopro and final cut this winter i just want this stupid edit to work.
 
Well I used it for a while and I remember it being picky about formats. What kind of files are you using?

And Blondie, I know what you're saying, but I'm not sure if a completely agree. I think that Vegas can be very simple if you don't dive into everything at once. Plus it's very easy to get. I just don't see why you would not use the best tool for the job when it's so simple to get your hands on it and anyone with some basic computer knowledge/ YouTube access will be able to learn in no time.
 
I believe I aam converting from .avi to .wmv and saving in .wmv but everytime i click the last button to publish it freezes.I've tried adding (.wmv) at the end of the title since it was blank.
