i HOPE this shall cause some reasonable convo's....post your position and a reason why...i think its sorta good i mean look at that setup....dope dub kink w/stairs, when was the last time a company gave us one to play around on? none that i remember...everyone is saying keep our sport away from the corporate world and what not...yes i agree but lets not keep us totally sheltered from it!! we need money, look at snowboarding, they get paid HUGE bucks because they grew big with other companies, skiing is the opposite. i donno about you but it'd be nice to do what you love AND get paid the way snowboarders do (more than us) haha....well if ANYONE understood that then give me a reply...lates

Hey- if a company wants to drop thousands of dollars on our sport, I don't really give a fuck who it is. All the 'corporations are bad' whiners should stop for a second and look at the logo on their computer, or their clothes, or their car.

although yes i am sick of people bitchin about the 'corperate whores' and i think freestyle skiing needs more money dumped onto it, it definatly should not become the next skateboarding... i was a skateboarder for the longest time, and now that im forced out of it by injuries i can look back and notice how it is way too popular for its own good.

The more sponsers skiing gets the better. Mickdy Ds would be a big step because they would be one of the first sponsers who doesn't make a product that has to do with skiing, and that is what skiing needs.

It does not matter if it is a fad or not. This this the United States, we are run by $$. Right now freestyle skiing does not have the money like snowboarding or skateboarding. And if you want progression, you need money and to get money and sponsers you need corporations to help pay for that. Look what MTV has done for skateboarding with Viva La Bam. We need major corportions to understand what we are doing and help us (the community) out. That is my .02 cents.

actually im pretty sure mcdonald do care about skiers, well in whistler, they proly do..

shit why would you buy some pepper at IGA for like 4$ the little can when you can always get some at mcdo.

And the mcdeals are probably the cheapest way to get some food in whistler except eating noodles all day long.

lets think about it this way. snowboarding was in all of the events skiing was at the WSI. snowboarding is pretty much the only mainstream snow sport. mcD's sponsored the event because it had snowboarding in it. they also sponsored the X games which coinsidentally also had snowboarding in it. they dont sponsor any other events that have soley skiers in them do they? HRMMMMMMMMM

Im the only one who cares, because from here, on my end, it seems like im the only one whos informed. Mcdonalds are the most decietful company in the fast food industry. Marketing food is no where near beneficial to you to CHILDREN. do you guys understand that? There marketing and promoting food thats NOT GOOD FOR YOU to kids. They have marketing campaigns that target the youth, who cant think for themselves. They promote 100% all beef patties, which isnt lying, because the company that makes there fake beef burgers name is 100% all beef! A little decietful yes? They are consuming authentic culture WORLD WIDE, popping up in japan, saudi arabia, and other naturally beautiful places in the world and smearing there logo all over there sky line. Fucking americanization. Im not anti corporate, im anti MCDONALDS.... then this company, who does all these horrible things, just invades your sport, the sport i love, and will never let go..... and fucking brands it. Puts RONALD MCDONALD ON A FUCKING HANDRAIL.... and you guys say its ok... you guys dont even give a shit about it.... because its giving skiing a little corporate boost.

HaHa My dad works for a robotics company and they did a machine for Mcds and heres how they make their burgers. At the end of the day a slaughter house has scraps and left over meat not good enough for supermarkets and butchershops. So McDonalds buys that and they use a chemical to fuse the odds and ends together and then pump 60% fat into the mix the chemical bonds the fat and meat and they slice it into patties MMMM but they r so gooooood!!

The point is, that we can do without mcdonalds, we have the resources. Skiing is building a solid foundation on roots companies who are getting the job done.

Read your original statement.. the opening of this thread. You asked for Opinions, and opened up to 'convos'.

Well you got an opinion that differed from yours..so you don't want to hear it.

I am going to add my opinion.

Though skiing is in sore need of cash influx towards the progressive sector of the sport, (the rest of skiing is fat with capitol.. ), and greater prize purses will inevitably lead to more people training themselves to achieve the skills required to win these purses therefor progressing the core of this sport.. there is a price to pay by allowing just ANY corporation to supply the funds.

McDonalds did not set up the 'McD's rail session' because they believed that it would benefit skiers or snowboarders, they did it because in their fifty plus year history they have for once lost money, and are now scrambling to target a wider market. This goes hand in hand with the 'I'm lovin' it' campaign. Mcdonalds corp. looks at the rail session as an avenue into a future market share... THEY DO THIS FOR THEIR PROFIT, NOT OURS... now this is fine in corporate world as ALL companies sponsor for their own benefit... the problem comes with WHO sponsors.. if mcd's sponsors a large prize purse event, they will attract alot of top atheletes, which gives them great exposure.. all fine and good, but core companies to the sport (Ie small ski manufacturers, like 4frtn and Armada) will NEVER be able to financially compete.. so they will LOSE exposure.. if they lose exposure, and with it sales.. they will die. This is the most important thing to consider, because McDonalds will NEVER provide you with a single peice of gear for the sports you love.

They will like a parasite infect these sports, and drain the financial tools from them until the host dies.

Then where will skiing be?

Remember.... skiing DOES need a future.. and the future of skiing certainly won't be found on a grill.
