McCain just suspended his campaign

Which is probably another reason that he (McCain) would like to postpone the debates... Last I checked the guy couldn't stand his own ground too well.
 
yeah i got alot of respect for him, for me its like this:
id rather hang out with obama and be friends, but id trust mccain with my life, so i dont know who i like more. it just seems like if obama gets elected he is gonna be so overwhelmed and not know what the hell to do, but for mccain, its gonna be easy squeezy, and he is gonna do shit right.
but obama thinks more like me and more like younger people, except isnt he against guns? cause if he is fuck that!

 
two things. first, if you agree with Obama more, you should probably vote for him. second, I see nothing in McCain that would make me trust him. Perhaps back in the day Soldier McCain immediately after POW camp I would trust, but not Presidential candidate McCain who sacrifices his ideals to put himself ahead in an election. People can change.
 
it doesnt matter im not voting anyway, ive gotten so much pressure from people to vote, and its getting annoying as hell so fuck it. this girl the other night was asking me about the election and who i was voting for and shit, i said im not gonna vote cause i could really care less who wins, and i really dont wanna get all caught up in all the political bullshit. and she flipped out, saying i wasnt a true american and how im such a terrible person, blah blah blah, so yeah fuck voting. if voters are like this chick and all the other uptight ass holes who are constantly telling me to vote, then i want to be as different as i can from them as possible.
 
Or, fuck the people that bought houses when they clearly shouldn't have. When you are barely making enough money to pay off a house the slightest slip of the economy kills you and thus kills the nation as a whole. The general population is as much responsible as the banks.
 
so normal everyday people who were psyched they could finally get a house, not the banks with personnel who have a much greater understanding of the economy and knew full well what they were doing was risky, are to blame?
 
Actually about 3 days ago Obama and McCain met and agreed on this. It's old news, and it won't be detrimental to either side.
 
is it really that hard for you to believe that he might actually give a shit about his country more than his election campaign?

maybe, just maybe he wants to have something left of the american economy when the new president (whether it be himself if obama) is inducted into office.

why does every move the republican party makes have to have some hidden alterior motive?

what about the democrats, has anyone here looked deeply into their campaign or have you all been lead to believe that obama is going to be the savior of america?

I think McCain is scared of debating obama. he wants to go try and fix and economical problem but he never has delt with economics, so what is he going to do? plus, this is the perfect time for a debate. the people should be able to hear from their leaders at a time like this. imo
 
instead of debating and pumping the airwaves full of hot air, why don't they go and actually ACCOMPLISH something that is very important for our fiscal future?
 
this is a crzy thought, but it might be nice to hear from the candidates BEFORE the ellection. i dont think a debate after the election would do much good, do you?
 
It's not the republicans and it's not a hidden ulterior motive: that's exactly my point. The fact is, every move a presidential candidate makes is calculated to help him win the presidency. Anyone who thinks otherwise is, I'm sorry, painfully naive.
 
The whole debate issue aside, the economy is the single most important component of any country. Period. It dictates all actions towards energy, immigration, foreign policy, education, heathcare, welfare, and all the other interchangeable hot-button topics. You can't have any of those 'nice' things that without a sturdy economic model.
 
Don't you think he has pressure to act a little more conservative than usual while running for the presidency as the republican candidate? Don't you think it's more likely, that John Mccain has been the same person for the past 50 years, and that he appears to be a little more right wing on purpose while running for office, due to the fact that he has to appeal to all the right wingers, and that once elected into office he'll portray the same man he's been for the last half century?

Or do you honestly think it's more likely that he just changed as a person entirely the second he decided to run for president?

Somewhat, yes. You don't make that large of an investment without an understanding of how you are barely meeting the payments. I agree with you that its more so the banks fault, but you can't allow the people who bought property off the hook that easily. Let me ask, do you research a company before buying stock, or do you just go ahead and buy it because you have the funds to do so? Similar concept, only property is larger scale.
 
Thing about stocks is even if you are making a pretty big commitment by investing in a particular stock, you can always sell whereas in the real estate market you aren't so lucky. Not to mention the market for real-estate is so down right now that if you found out that you could not afford a mortgage, then you are pretty screwed because there is no certainty that someone will buy and then you will be stuck paying that mortgage and possibly paying a smaller one or rent for an apartment or something.

True, but you still lose money on selling the stock. Its much smaller than a house payment, but the concept is similar. You lose the stock (property in the house case), and are down money (paying off a house, etc.). In both cases, research of the situation is very important. Someone who buys a house without an understanding of what could happen, or someone who doesn't research a stock is an idiot. You don't invest money into something without knowing the situation and potential repercussions.

and in this day and age they have telephones and what not that make it really simple to be in on the discussion, even if you arent physically there. as president you need to be able to multitask and mccain is proving that he isnt capable of that.

Family should stay out of it, but in this case, it is something you should make a note of, even form an opinion of. The news should however, stay out of it.

You're gonna have to fill me in on what candidates have announced about ANYTHING they've done, "Yeah, that was a stunt to gain votes." Because EVERYTHING they do is just that.
